The Pact

After the declaration of unity, the Dragon and the Goddess continued to share each other's company. Often conversing for hours. Always in the hall they left the others with the image of rivalry. After all it was known that the realm of the Dragon was at war with the inhabitants of Mt. Olympus.

Every conversation between them revealed more of their true selves to the other. Could a Dragon love a Goddess? After all Dragon's are proud creatures, witty and wise. ShadowDragon was no normal dragon..he was the Lord of the Shadows..independent..a solitary creature.

At the same time Athena wondered if she could truly love a creature such as the Dragon. He was not a humble creature, she admired his wit, his intelligence, his charm...but he quite often defeated her in the battle of wits, which for the Goddess of Wisdom was a new experience..one which she marvelled at but was also annoyed at. Each time she prepared for the battle, he quickly pushed aside her idle attempts at defending herself and always stood with a huge smile on his face. Satisfied at his win.

Before either of them knew what had happened ShadowDragon received word that his brethern had fallen to the Gods of man. This infuriated him..he swore vengeance and flew to the Shadowlands. Athena knew she must return to Mt. Olympus to aid her fellow Gods. Heavy was her heart, because she knew that He would come for them. She would have to decide to face him as her foe or her ally. What transpired next lies below.

Shadow Dragon
Shadow Dragon From His castle in the ethereal realm of shadow He took flight. Leaving that place of perpetual darkness He flew. He was hunting, but not a usual hunt. He was at war. Travelling to the place of the gods, so called Olympus. It wasn't as grand as He expected been the home of the gods of human kind. His keep alone, not including the rest of his castle was larger than the entire place. "Well so much for the so called 'gods'" He thought. He roared, a roar of warning to the gods that their end was nigh, the leaders of the humans who had been killing his lesser brethren. Lesser they may have been but brethren they were. Diving fast, claws and fangs ready, He joined in battle with some gods. He didn't know their names. They died. Landing in a field, with many humans in it without the smell of life, He continued. Another of the gods attacked him, falling quickly to deadly fangs, and razor sharp claws. They had magic these deities but nothing that could cause Him worry. One more kill he made while heading to the citadel of the human gods, a warrior spear in hand, male by appearance. This was no challenge it was obvious these mortal gods had no idea of the forces beyond their petty globe. Then the most unexpected thing happened. A woman, a goddess stepped before Him, showing no fear, even though she must have heard the death screams of her brothers and sisters. She held her spear tight and looked at Him "please Sir, stop this slaughter." Looking at her, He could hardly breathe a word, His pulse raced, He felt light-headed. Holding her gaze He nodded, as He did not trust his voice. Taking a deep breath, in a powerful voice He spoke "I will end this, if you will be Mine. Forever be My queen." "i Agree" she said, a slight smile creeping to her perfect features. This is how a human goddess was tied to the fate of a Dragon Lord. Forever will they be together, The Master of the shadow lands, and the goddess… Athena.

Athena
The halls of Mt. Olympus shook with a terrible roaring and before anyone knew from whence the sound came…the sky filled with darkness as Apollo was torn from his chariot by the talons of the Dragon Lord. His lifeless body fell to the earth to rest among the mortals. The other Gods flew to action, as Athena watched …mesmerized by the power, strength and beauty of this creature. As her sisters and brothers fought to save Olympus, as if in a dream she watched…one after the other…those who were to live forever…fell to the power and force of the Dragon Lord.” As her brother Ares..lay bleeding…the Dragon Lord took to the sky to finish his kill. She took her spear and shield and walked calmly from the shadows and spoke… “I am Athena….it is not in my nature to beg..I bow before no man or God…but I ask you to stop.” As if the air upon which he flew had disappeared the great Dragon Lord..stopped…his gaze fixed upon her. As she watched him ..her heart raced…”such magnificence, cunning and strength…she knew she had met her equal.” The Dragon Lord spoke…asking her to be his Queen, to join him. This is the day I’ve known would come she thought…in the wisdom of the ages…the Lord of Shadows and the Goddess Athena swore a pact. They would join and be forever together…creatures of Shadow and Light…living in both worlds…forever as one
