There are many factors that make the process of adaptation to a new place so difficult. With no doubt, moving to another country is a new beginning because of the necessity of having to get used to a new way of life. For instance, when my mother first came to this country after spending 40 years living in her country, Peru, it almost became a traumatizing process because of the radical change. There can be frustration and discomfort if factors such as language, people's behavior and culture are different because of playing a very relevant role in the process of adaptation to a new country.

Her first bad experience was as soon as she stepped in the USA, when she arrived to the airport because of not understanding a single word of what the others were saying. Moreover, she couldn't go out by herself because she didn't speak the language. The language plays the most important role in the process of adaptation to a new place, but what to do if you don't speak the same language? After months of frustration and of almost having fallen into depression, she finally started to get motivated and enrolled in English classes to be able to start again in this new place.

The way people behave to different situations was also a big barrier for her to feel comfortable in this new country. Once she started learning English, she began to meet new people that only spoke that language and the differences in manners and customs were so big that affected her a lot. For instance, she was used to kiss on the cheek since that's what is used in her country; however, when she tried to do that here, the other person stepped back. Moreover, she felt so embarrassed when she found out that that's something people don't do here that she almost gave up with her big task of getting used to this culture.

Her impression of the culture was also very disappointing since food and music are completely opposite comparing her home country with The United States. Not only does she hate American food because of being so greasy but also modern American music is like a knife in her ears. In addition, she either cooks what she likes or goes to restaurants only from her country; and refuses to turn on the radio.

In conclusion, most of the immigrants that are forced to come to this country to be able to have the opportunities that they can't have in their countries have a hard time in the process of getting used to this completely new environment. Moving to another country and the process of getting used to it are always difficult experiences and would be even more if there were differences like language, people's behavior and culture.
