Isis Temple

Temple Site

The Temple of Isis: on the island of phillae. The last temple in egypt that was used as a place of worship and rituals. The temple has since been relocated to the neighboring island of Agilqiya.(pictured above)

The Temple of Augustus: at Dendera. This temple site is located within the holy grounds sacred to Hathor. Isis borrowed the horns of Hathor at one point. The link between the two is bound up in the kingship of the land.

The Temple of Sety I: at Abydos. Know for some of the most beautiful and detailed representations of the Goddess ever carved in egypt.

Deir El-Shelwit: on the western bank of Thebes. Small shrine built during roman period.

Temple of Isis 'Mistress of the pyramid': At Giza. Worship center of one of the queens east of the pyramid of Khufu. Behbeit El-Hagar 'Iseion': in the north-east Delta on the Damietta branch of the Nile. The Major cult center of Isis.

Awake in peace,

Rest thou in peace,
Rise thou in beauty,
Goddess of Life
Beautiful in Heaven.

O Goddess,
Daughter of Nut,
Daughter of Geb,
Beloved if Osiris,
Goddess rich in names!
All praise to You,
All praise to You,
I adore You,
I adore You,
Lady Isis!

If all the gods were invented by humans, I think Isis is the most excellent of our inventions: the Universal all-embracing, all encompassing Mother Goddess. I love and admire Isis because she is everything I think women should be, a no nonsense taking-care-of business woman who wielded magick and used it to look after everything when the men in her life let her down.

Isis was not spineless like her husband Osiris; the Egyptian people had no need to erect her backbone every year. Set could not undo her. Isis was strong, a loving mother who protected her son Horus as fiercely as any wildcat. She was brave and tough enough to rear him alone in the wilderness of the papyrus swamps; she loved him enough to dish out tough love when it was needed. Isis acted as regent for her son, kept safe the empty throne of Egypt and saw to it he was man enough to take his rightful place upon it when it was time.

Isis battled the forces of Darkness and Chaos with Light and Words of Power. She saved Egypt, brought humans agriculture and civilization. It is Isis who guides us when we are lost, Isis who enfolds us in the protection of her wings when we are in trouble. It is my honor to be Her priestess, to serve Her and everything She stands for.
