Louis de Point du Lac

Once the wealthy owner of a french
plantation, overrun with sadness and greif after the loss of family members
he is followed by a vampire known as Lestat. Lestat drinks from him
till the moments of death and offers him a new life with him. As unwilling
companions Louie goes along with Lestat in his quest for other vampire kind,
and what a vampire truely is. In a cruel joke to keep him from leaving
Lestat provides him with a vampire child to quench that feeling of need the
Lestat cannot provide him with. Louis does not enjoy his life as a
vampire and the need to take others lives to maintain his own.
"For four years I had not savoured
a human; for four years I hadn't really known; and now I heard her heart
in that terrible rhythm, and such a heart - not the heart of man or an animal,
but the rapid, tenacious heart of the child, beating harder and harder, refusing
to die, beating like a tiny fist beating on a door, crying, 'I will not die,
I will not die, I cannot die, I cannot die....' "
