Wild Flowers 2001

The following pictures were taken April of 2001 on a Wild Flower trip that my good friend, Mark Egan, and I took. Unfortunately, the Bluebonnets were past peak. Still it was a trip filled with beautiful flowers.

 Wild Flowers Home

Taken South West of Austin, Tx. Taken on Minolta 400si 300mm zoom lens. A Tobacco Graduated Filter was used.

Taken near Fayetteville, Tx. Taken with my Minolta 400si as all the pictures on this page are. 35-70mm lens used.

Bluebonnet Bridge

Taken South West of Austin, Tx. This was taken at the same location as above. 300mm zoom lens used.

Taken near Fayetteville, Tx. Taken with 35-70mm lens set to 35mm. Then my Ultra-Wider was added for this effect. I like this one because it tells a story of a fence, a photographer, and flowers. (Yes, that's my friend in the background.)

The Stump

Bluebonnet Story

I can't remember where we were when I took this picture. I was experimenting with my Ultra-Wider on buildings.

This is another experiment with the Ultra-Wider. I moved in closer with this one.

With all Grace

With all Grace2

This was a close-up using my 300mm macro lens. The enlargement does not have the lettering on it.

This shot came out a little dark. It was taken with my 35-70mm lens with the Ultra-Wider.

Indian Paintbrush

Bluebonnet Fence

This was taken with my 300mm lens to capture a pond that was unreachable and surrounded by Bluebonnets.

I took this shot because it looked like Mark was wading in flowers. 300mm zoom lens.

Bluebonnet Pond

Wading in Flowers

This shot was taken by getting down into a ditch, which left me eye level with the flowers. It was taken with my 35-70mm lens with the Ultra-Wider because I was very close to the flowers.

This was a pretty tight arrangement of flowers, mostly yellow. I thought it was interesting because of the thickness of the yellow separated by the blue with the company of a few painbrushes.

Field of Gold with Company of Blue

What can I say about this one? I had never seen this type of flower to my knowledge and wanted it on film.

This was taken in Fayette County, Tx. To show the span of flowers on the country side I used my 35mm and Ultra-Wider.

Pretty in Purple

Field of Bluebonnet Dreams

Taken near Fayetteville. Taken on 35mm with Ultra-Wider on.

This was taken with my 35-70mm set at 35. The Ultra-Wider was on to catch more of the field. An amber filter was put on to change the plain flat sky that we had. Now I have a gray grad. filter (thanks to Mark).

Fields of Blue

Special Blue

I have a thing for the number three. I like any composition where objects of three are grouped. Hence, this picture.

Another shot of the flowers and fence. I liked the idea of the old rusted fence and the bright and lively flowers at the base.

Three in color

Blue Fence

This picture is again of the fence, but it's a little busy.

I thought this was an interesting shot because of the white grouping of related species to the bluebonnet.

Don't Fence me In

White in Blue

I took this to show the variation of paintbrushes.

I was out investigating a developing storm and saw these flowers on the side. I put on the Ultra-Wider and got down with the flowers for this shot.

Red and White

Primrose Perspective

These pink flowers were just to stunning to pass up. Notice the cluster of three.
