FREAKING AWESOME. i loved this movie. the story line just grand. it was amazing. basically the plot of the movie involves, of course, nemo, who gets separated from his father when a scuba diver captures him. through intricate oceanic connections, his father attempts to find him in the huge sea. do they find nemo? well, what do you think? i give disney at least a few more years before the "dark juvenile" genre hits the shelves. yeah kids, that's right, one day you will get lost and mommy and daddy will never find you so you better be a good little fish. or bearcub. or whatever you are. oh yeah, human. that's right. it's crazy how much juvenile animation has evolved in just a few short years. there was no comedy in the movies i remember from my childhood. they were chock-full of lessons to be learned and feel good endings. this movie certainly brought me back to the time when i wished with all my heart to become a "my little pony" with wings. had to have wings. bring tissues. i was ready to burst into tears when "the end" popped up on the screen. i wanted more, i tell you, more!!! but don't worry, you'll be wishing to be a fish when this one's over. totally.

im just going to say what ive heard from everyone - this was way over the top. but im ok with that because i know that its mainly to set up for the next movie. it was good. some of the best special effects out there today. there were times when it was bluescreensville and ugh...but i mean, better than anything me or you could do, right? props to the wachowskis, it was pretty awesome. im excited that we get to see the next one so soon, better than waiting on the lotr movies, right? basically you all know the plot - a war is coming and AHH what should we do?? the first one was better. but, you know, sequels can rarely compete anyways. they used every trick in the book - what could they possibly have saved for revolutions?
other wachowski movies: the matrix, bound

bruce almighty

WARNING: THIS REVIEW IS TOTALLYI BIASED!!
i am in love with jim carrey, so you of course i love his movies, but this one honestly was pretty good. for the most part, i dislike movies that rely on the mushy gushy storyline, but this one pulls it off pretty well. there's something for everyone - comedy, romance, and well, religion. that's if you're not too offended by jim carrey being portrayed as God. many of you probably think he IS God, so, you know whatever. the basic synopsis is that the character, bruce, has a bout of bad luck everywhere and complains to God until he is finally given the chance to take over the big man's job. the idea is pretty original from what i know. the comedy is original and well, you really cant screw up a movie with jim carrey in it. his initials ARE J.C., after all, i guess that makes him perfect for the part. the only complaint that i had was that it was a *skosh* too long and jim didn't quite lay on the slapstick as much as possible. but i don't think anyone else could have pulled off this role.
other shadyac movies: dragonfly, liar liar, ace ventura: pet detective, patch adams, the nutty professor

the anarchists cookbook

director: jordan susman (ifd)
starring: david gummersall, dylan bruno

so i just saw this movie at the 4th annual deep ellum film festival in beautiful downtown dallas at the magnolia theatre. i was highly highly impressed with this movie. i would say that if you like requiem for a dream, trainspotting, fight club, and slc punk, you should definitely check this one out. it starts out with a bunch of anarchists living in a fight-club-esque house named sam, where children rum rampant with no rules and nothing is anyone's "private property." everyone's drug free and there's absolutely no smoking inside. things start getting a little too crazy when johnny black, a nilist, moves in with them. he turns anarchy into something violent, and one by one, the characters start changing. i think the coolest thing about this movie is that it was shot in dallas, and i actually recognized some of the skyline and scenery (you know, the lit up ball, the green outlined building, etc...). you can check out the website above for a trailer, and maybe even find some viewing times.
other susman movies: nothing that i could find, but i hope to see something soon (give him time man!)

vanilla sky
release date: 14 Dec 01

director: cameron crowe
starring: tom cruise, penelope cruz, cameron diaz

don't expect to see this movie without falling in love with penelope cruz. her natural acting ability to lure you in to her world and make you want to cuddle there forever with her should have gotten her an oscar, but those people don't know what they are doing, right? david's (cruise) life becomes terribly messed up after a crazed lover (diaz) commits suicide with him in the car by driving it off a bridge. all of a sudden nothing seems right, almost as if he's living in a dream world. so it "seems?" vanilla sky came along right when hollywood needed a safety net to catch all of their "great new stuff" - bleh. save yourself 8 dollars by NOT seeing another stephen spielberg movie and rent this one. it will blow you away.
other crowe movies: singles, almost famous
