Runaways

Hayley Quinn was getting ready for her first class. She sat in a chair facing the mirror, combing her long silky brown hair. She was in a school for girls. She was wearing a white blouse, blue plaid skirt and a navy blue sweater. Her school has a dress code. Hayley was the best student in her freshman year. All the Sisters loved her. She had to set an example for the other girls. She was eighteen and had come from a rich family. She was a cheerleader in highschool and so had it in with them. But she always felt that wasn't where she should be belong. She dated all the jocks who were only after her for sex. But Hayley never gave her virginity away. She's keeping it for the man she loves. I don't know how I survived in high school. She finished brushing her hair and stopped to look at herself. Oh quit being depressed. I have a life. She told herself. Yeah without a boyfriend. Hayley got up from the chair picked up her green backpack and left her dorm room. She walked down the bleak looking hallway to her first class; history. Hayley sat down next to her friend Nicole Masterson.
"Hey Nicki," Hayley replied getting her books out and putting a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Hi Hails," She said looking at Sister Mary Joan walk back and forth talking endlessly about the war of 1812.
‘Hails' had originated at Oakdale Academy in Augusta, Maine. She never had one in high school.
"Are you doing anything tonight?" She asked her friend.
Nicki glanced at her. "No, just being bored. Why?"
Sister Mary Joan slapped her ruler down on the desk. That made the girls jump. "Do stop talking this is important for you to learn."
"Sorry Sister," They replied in sync. For the rest of the period their teacher talked about the war.

The period ended and the two girls walked out in the hall.

"Oh my that was boring." Nicki remarked leaning against the wall.
"I know. I don't know why I signed up for that course. Oh that's right I do know I want to be a history buff!! Ughh, I wish I could do something else. I mean it's just so. . . never mind." Hayley looked down the hallway beyond Nicki and saw her best friend. "I'll see you later there's Anna."
"Okay bye," She left with her other friends.
Anna Turner is a year older than Hayley but the two are inseparable. They share a room; secrets and clothes together. Anna has dirty blond hair that was pulled at the sides with butterfly clips; the in thing right now. They give each other a hug and walk to their next class; psychology.
"How was history?" Anna asked adjusting her book bag.
"Boring, God I hate history. Oops." Hayley looked above her and whispered: "Sorry,"
Anna laughed. "Don't worry I don't think He'll strike you down for that."
She pretended to look scared. "Oh I hope not."
She smiled. "How was sport med?"
She nodded in response. "It was good. I'm learning so much this it's great. We're here." Anna steered her best friend into the psych room. They took their seats. Hayley really liked this class and paid attention in it. She loves the human brain. Secretly she would love to study serial killers minds. As morbid as that sounds. She is into law and wouldn't mind working for some agency. But that is not what her parents want. Her father wants her to become a history professor; like himself. She has no say whatsoever. It annoys her but she can't do anything about.
