Imhotep (Imhetep)

In Egyptian mythology, Imhotep was an architect, physician, scribe, and grand vizier (high executive officer) of the IIIrd dynasty (2635-2570 BCE).

He lived in the court of the Pharaoh Zoser. He built and designed the Step Pyramid at Sakkara. This led to the curiosity and development of building with stone on a large scale.

He also worked with Thoth on scribes. Imhotep was said to be the son of Ptah, the creator of the universe.

The Greeks considered Imhotep to be Asclepius.
