Loved and lost Last Year Dad started feeding two young cats that hung around, a yellow and a gray. They stayed for a good while, However the gray cat died summer of 2001. The other cat disappeared shortly after. There used to be a black male who fought off quite a few of the cats. We believe he ran off the yellow cat, or the yellow cat caught what they gray one had. During this summer 2002 Three cats started to hang around, the mother, a female calico, brought them up to our house, and they eventually started hanging around. There were three total, One was a small gray female named shinta. Shinta pictured below was small in size, she stayed the size of a kitten while her brothers grew. She was tamed. She would greet me or dad at the car, and at the door. She loved being petted but refused to be picked up. She also started following dad around, and ran in the house several times with him, and then right back out when he left. Around February we had her spayed. We kept her locked up in a storage building for two weeks so she could heal. We would lock her up at night since her belly was shaved and let her out in the morning. Unfortunately one day after letting her out, she never came back. She got attention and food, then disappeared. We called the animal control, and put up fliers however no one had seen a cat matching her description, nor did anyone respond to the adds. We can only hope that someone adopted her, and she is warm and happy on someone's lap right now These two were left in our yard, around Feb 10, they were both very friendly, active,
and sweet but my parents really didn't want to keep them, the only reason they
were let
in the house is because socks tried to get into the neighbors dog pen (where
they have a basset hound) scaring me
half to death, not to mention they looked so lost and scared.
