Mages

List of Professions:

Magic is the intangible force that thrives within the land and living things within the land. Legend says that the Goddess Deianira came to Aereth and asked if she could bestow her gift upon the world that he created. He nodded, giving his permission and with that, the Lady Deianira but blew a kiss, spreading her power over the lands of Destiny, giving the mortal children a touch of godlike power. A small seed of magic is hidden within everything but it is those that have chosen to open their minds and nurture this mystical seed that are able to reap the full benefits. These people have come to be known as Mages.

With the birth and death of centuries, Mages powerful enough have been able to manipulate magic into their very own design. Though magic in itself is is neither good or bad, mages begin to use it for different purposes. The TrueHearts, or Light mages, will use their gift to help others or to defend themselves. Those who follow the ways of darkness, the dark mages, will use their gift to crush others, causing harm and destruction. This is how it began, mages of like minds would often congregate with one another, sharing their ideas and knowledge, experimenting and forming new and powerful spells. The dark and light mages were in loath to work with each other so therefore separate institutions were built called conclaves. Eventually those magi who did not follow the paths of light or dark broke off and would form their own institutions. They took knowledge from both the light and dark magic, giving birth to their own, they became known as the grey mages, or Evenhearted ones.

As time passes, so did many of the great institutions. The conclaves crumbling in on themselves and much of the great knowledge going with them. To this day, some have trouble believing if they even existed. The country of Pintar is now the main focus of attention when it comes to gaining knowledge in the studies of the arcane. The stronger mages taking on students to pass down their secrets. Taking younger apprentices under their wings and nurturing their minds so that one day, they too can pass on what they have learned to another, keeping magic alive.
