Throughout this site you may have noticed banners at the top of most of the pages. I put them there to inform the non-practioners of the myths and the truths associated with the practise of Paganism.
Throughout the centuries Witches were feared for being "Satan's little helpers'" when infact we don't believe in the Christian "god" therefore, we don't believe in the "devil."
All our practises are very old ways that predate all other religions. The first findings where in caves done during the Upper Paliolithic Period (the cavemen era). The fears that have been frozen in the minds of all others were put there because the church couldn't explain why the men and woman would spend so much time cultivating herbs and not just vegetables. Why they would use these herbs with candles, insence, star (the pentacle) and other materials. And as to why they celebrate at night under the moon. * Please see the page SUPPLIES AND CONTACTS for more information.)* To them they feared the unknown and therefore condemed those that are different.
Christians seem have a real issue with solving there own problems and end up waiting for their "god" to give them the answers. This is the wrong way of life and the person should make up their own minds and come to their own conclusions.
Have you ever asked yourself where did the Christian ways come from? I can tell you that right now...they came from the Shamanistic findings, the same place Witchcraft does. Why does the priest who does Exorsisms shake, yell and dance around their target? The same reasons why a Medicine Man does...to contact the Deities. Why do the christians and Catholics pray, talk in tongue and dance around? The same thing as to why the Witch and Medicine Men/woman do...to contact the Deities.
So you see, you and I are no different. We DO NOT use spells and hexis to make a person bend to our ways, nor do we sacrifice animals, people or children. A true and real witch helps out those that need medicine in the way of herbs, teas and poltises and for tarot, tea leaf, runes, water, palm & chrystal ball readings. Each and everyone of you either have or will make a visit to a Psychic at some point in your life. I guarantee it!!! We are great listeners and will not cast judgement upon you, we are mothers, doctors, teachers, fellow students and best friends. We are very capable of loving and meaning it. Christians also have an honesty issue and that they say they love you then turn around and shun you. They also feel like they have the right to cast judgement and almost always are different at church then in the everyday life cycle.
Here at the Northern Wiccan's of British Columbia, we thrive on bringing to you the truth and are quite plunt about were we see the issues that are mis-informative. WE WILL ALWAYS BRING TO YOU THE TRUTH AND NEVER EMBELISH, LIE OR TURN YOU AWAY.
We are not trying to bring you to us but instead have you see the other side of the coin.
*As this web site and our community grows, more information will be added.*
In Wicca, there is no brainwashing, accult type atmosphere, and you can leave Wicca/Paganism at anytime without anyone knowing. It's a free religion were you can go at it alone (solitary like me) or in a group. (A coven.)
Concise Oxford Dictionary: "A Coven: a group of people coming together in group type atmosphere."
"Covenant: A contract drawn up under a seal...a charity." The churches are a coven as well for they gather to worship a Deitie. Also, the church is a Covenant just like our covens. In a nut schell...we are all the same!
You may be asking "Why then do you practice in private?" That is a real good question and easily answered. Back in the 1600's-late 1800's we were burnt at the stake (The Burning Times), drown, hung, disemboweled, decapitated and any other gruesome act you can think of. All of the tortures were done in public and the church officials and parishoners watched and were screaming for more. (Now, does that sound like the proper way for the church to act? I think not as is why I left the church.
I hope that this information and that throughout this site, has made you open your eyes and think about your ways and actions.
our motto: "Don't fear the unknown...Educate yourself!"
