~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 1~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Five young handsome young guys walked out from the 1st class passenger’s cab of flight 522. They moved quickly passed staring eyes of unfamiliar faces. Avoiding speaking to one another afraid that their thick Florida accent would attract attention to themselves, which was the last thing they wanted right now. Bags in hand, they moved through the large parking area to the back where most people wouldn’t be. A guy was sitting on the hood of a ’99, jet-black, Ford Expedition. He jumped off quickly when he saw them coming, heads down. The guys got closer and the guy asked them if one of them was Shep Barclay. One nodded while another one laughed silently. The rental guy handed over the keys to the one that nodded. “Thanks for using Car Rental.” The young guy nodded once more. They put their many bags in the back and hopped in the warm Expedition.It was only when they took off their dark, Oakly sunglasses and was driving through the busy city of Clinton, Illinois that they finally dared to speak. “J.C., what kind of name is Shep?” one of the guys in the back asked, “It sounds like a dog name.” The driver of the car shook his head. He told himself he wasn’t going to hear Chris’ joking around. Chris continued on, “Who would name their kid, Shep? Poor guy he must be thinking we’re running away or something. Of course if I had a name like Shep, I would run away too.” J.C. looked in his rear view mirror and saw the youngest member of the group sitting right behind him messing with his dark colored wig. “Problems?” “Yeah, could you guys please put on the AC because my wig is falling off with the windows down.”J.C. rolled up the windows with a touch of a button and turned up the AC full blast. “Hey Lance, where are we staying at exactly?” a guy asked from clear in the back. “Some old house outside a town called Leila,” the guy in the passenger seat called back. “Lance, help me out here, how do we get out of this city?” J.C. asked. Lance got out a folded map from his back pocket and looked at it. “We’re going the wrong way. We have to get over on that lane,” he pointed to the lane where everybody was going the opposite way. They got stopped at a red light. When it finally turned green they waited till all the cars were gone. A car was racing to get past the light. “J.C. if you’re going to go you better go now,” the guy from the clear back spoke up. “Would you like to drive, Joey?” J.C. asked looking in the rear view mirror. “Go!” everybody chorused. J.C. slammed on the gas and jerked the wheel to the left making a perfect U- turn just as the light turned yellow. Everybody hit the glass of the unexpected sharp turn. J.C. looked in the rear view mirror, “Seatbelts.” They reached Leila 2 hours later very tired. A month of vacation would take that away quickly. That’s why they were in Illinois instead of Florida. They needed a long vacation away from everything; family, music, producers, fans, and bodyguards. Instead of ‘N Sync they are going to be their individual selves; Chris Kirkpatrick, Justin Timberlake, Joshua Chasez, James Bass, and Joey Fatone. J.C. turned the Expedition into a grassy driveway that they almost missed if it weren’t for the old metal mailbox that said ‘Bailey’. They drove a little way in silence until Chris asked, “Are you sure this is a driveway?” Lance turned to look at him, “It has to be, the mailbox said ‘Bailey’.” They came up over a hill and stopped at the top amazed at what they saw below them. The woods that lined the drive suddenly broke into a never-ending clearing. A large Victorian mansion was in the middle. The mansion was old; the large iron gate made it look like Frankenstein lived there. The stone was that surrounded the house was all green from the vines that grew on its side. They just made out the grayness of the aging wall. “This is it?” Justin asked. “I guess.” J.C. closed his jaw and started to gradually ease the car down the steep slope.
