Chapter 6

Joey looked at Tabitha. He watched her take a drink out of her glass filled of water. Her lips curved at the brim. She lightly put her glass down on the snow-white tablecloth. Her jade colored eyes sparkled in the candlelight. The candlelight danced at the air making her face glow with radiance. She looked up at the red roses, which were in a glass vase beside the candle. He wanted to know what she was thinking. She looked at him and gave a flirtatious smile. He guessed she was 18-19 years old. She turned back to her food while brushing a blonde piece of hair away from her face. They finished in silence. J.C. wanted Tabitha to play something.

“No, that’s, ok, I’m not really that good.”

“Come on,” Joey urged, “You can’t be that bad.”

“Well, I don’t…”

“Please?”

She sighed, “Ok, 1 song.”

Tabitha took out a songbook and slid onto the wooden oak bench. She lightly put her fingers on the white keys and began playing ‘Amazing Grace’. In the middle of the first verse they started singing along with the song.

Joey got caught watching her fingers move gracefully over the keys. He moved up to her face. She was so serious, so intent on the music. Just like J.C. when he sang the audience in a concert. He looked more closely at her eyes. Some people can tell whom somebody is like… is feeling when looking into their eyes. She was worried, scared maybe, about something. He wanted to know what it was so he could make it all better. The song ended and they stayed up and talked for 2 hours before retrieving to their rooms.

Tabitha turned a corner and gasped. A woman dressed in white was standing in her way, looking at her. “Please, don’t wake them. They just traveled 2000 miles and they need their rest, they don’ t need to be awakened by your screams or music. They will be gone in awhile and you don’t have to see them ever again. Just lit them sleep form tonight,” she told the lady. The lady watched her as she moved past her to her room. Tabitha toke 2 steps and turned around only to find nothing there but darkness.
