Chapter 18

“You’re right Justin this whole room is filled with ghosts stuff,” I told him flipping through the book some more. I was wondering about the question I was pondering for the last couple of days. Should I ask them, now? Well, this is the best time to do it.

I took a deep breath and sighted trying to calm my nerves. “When you guys leave… can I go with you?” I looked up to see their reaction.

All eyes looked at me amazed, mouths open, “Just until I find a job. Its just…well…I really need to get out of this house. It’s getting to be too much for me,” I explained.

They smiled and looked at each other knowing what the others were thinking.

I looked at each one of them. “What?”

Chris cocked his head looking at me, “Can you dance?”

“Yeah, little bit. Why?”

“We just found you a job.”

“What is it?” I asked.

“Dancing with us. For our new tour we were thinking of getting girl dancers to dance with us. Congratulations, you’re the first one,” Chris explained.

“What about J.C.?” I asked worriedly.

“He is the one that had the idea. We were going to have a contest as soon as we got back to Orlando.”

“But of course you’re got to quit your job at the local strip club,” Joey told me.

I looked at him hurt, “What? What do you mean by that?”

He shook his head vigously. “Mean by what, you slut?” Joey asked innocently.

I stood up from the pile of books I was sitting on and slapped him. Tears started to well in my eyes as I rushed out the door and down the hall. Joey held his face in pain.

“Jeez, Joey, that was uncalled for.” Lance scolded.

“What did I do?” Joey asked confused.

“And he denies he didn’t do anything,” Justin spoke up. “Fine, ok, Joey. I’ll tell you what you did. You called her a slut good job Joey.”

“Telepathic communication,” Joey whispered.

“What?”

“It wasn’t me that said that it was one of the ghosts. Telepathic communication,” Joey explained running out the door to catch Tabitha. They looked at each other. Then it dawned on them. Racing to the door to follow the other two.

Joey’s heavy footsteps pounded lightly on the hallway floor. He jogged lightly trying to catch me. Finally reaching the railing he leaned over to see me on the last couple of steps.

“Tabitha, stop,” Joey instructed, “Tabitha, it wasn’t me, please, stop.”

I looked at him from the bottom step. He was all blurred from my tears. The pleadingless in his voice is what really made me stop.

“Believe me Tabitha,” Joey pleaded with me.

His face told me he was truly sorry. Although, I wanted to believe him so bad, I couldn’t . Too many people have hurt me already. The sunlight shone through the large windows making his face become a light yellow.

Tabetha’s blonde hair shone like that very first sunlight to hit the earth. It was then that Joey knew he loved her. Her jade colored eyes met his one last time before she bolted to the door, her hoar flying behind her.

He reached out to her like maybe that would stop her running, “Tabitha, wait.”

I fell on my knees heavily, on the lush green grass shaking from crying. The pond in front of me was quiet form the swans that were swimming in it. The branches of the weeping willow shaded me from the sun.

My hands went up to cover my tear stained face. Tears streamed down my cheeks in small rivers. A click from above, made me look up. Joey came out on his balcony. Why was it every time I wanted to be alone Joey is always there? I wiped my eyes and silently started singing Celine Dion’s ‘ I want you to love me.’

I wanna be the face you see when you close your eyes I wanna be the touch you need every single night I wanna be your fantasy And be your reality And everything in between

I want you to need me Like the air you breathe I want you to feel me In everything I want you to see me In your every dream The way that I taste you, feel you, breathe you, need you I want you to Need me Need me Like I need you

I moved to behind the willow hoping he hadn’t seen me. Joey watched me intently, wondering I wanted to hide. He sang aloud, silently.

I wanna be the eyes that look deep into your soul I wanna be the world to you I just want it all I wanna be your deepest kiss The answer to your every wish And all you ever need

I want you to need me Like the air you breathe I want you to feel me In everything I want you to see me In your every dream The way that I taste you, feel you, breathe you, need you I want you to need me Need me

The brown bark started to hurt my back as I closed my eyes and started singing again.

Cause I need you more than you could know And I need you to never let me go And I need to be deep inside your heart I just want to be everywhere you are

Joey could hear soft singing but couldn’t figure out what it was. He leaned over the railing singing to her.

I wanna be the face you see when you close your eyes I wanna be the touch you need every single night I wanna be your fantasy And be your reality And everything between…

I turned around quickly when I heard the click again. I fell to my knees when I saw he wasn’t there anymore.

I want you to need me Like the air you breathe I want you to feel me in everything I want you to see me in your every dream Cause baby I taste you, feel you, breathe you, need you,

I want you to need me Like the air you breathe I want you to feel me in everything I want you to see me in your every dream Cause baby I taste you, feel you, breathe you, need you I want you to need me, need me Like I need you

I again covered my eyes with my hands and continued crying. Two people stood at the corner of the house, unnoticed.

“Do you think we should let her go? I mean, she does love the guy,” said the lady.

“What? Now way, Dorothy!”

“But Walter, she will find out who we are sooner or later. I think we should let her go,” Dorothy protested.

“And let her tell everybody who we are? No, I won’t have it.”

“Come on Walter, please reconsider,” begged the lady.

“No, Dorothy, we are going to stick to the plan. Besides they won’t leave this house alive. That’s a promise,” the man smiled evilly.
