Magician's intuition - true or false?

The magician's trick seems really way out of whack with reality.  To see if mathematically it is at all feasible I have changed the ration of the two masses from the previous 1 : 3 to a much larger one, 1 : 100, as shown in Fig1.

Before I show the results I like to invite people to guess if the vertical downward motion of the large 100ball mass can be stopped by the action of the tiny 1ball mass before the 100ball mass has pulled all of the of cord through the pivot. The cord's length is 4 1/2 ft.
