Chapter one.
It took awhile for them all to get off the platform. A wizened old gaurd was up by the ticket barrier, letting them go through the gates in two's and three's so they didn't attract attention by bursting out of a solid wall at once and alarming the muggles.
"You must come this summer," said Ron, both of you-I'll send you an owl."
"Thanks" said Harry, "I'll need something to look forwad to." People jostled them as they moved forward toward the gateway back to the muggle world. Some of them called:
"Bye Harry!"
"See You, Potter!"
"Still Famous," said Ron, grinning at him"
"Not where I'm going I promise you" said Harry. He, Ron and Hermione passed through the gateway together.
"There he is, Mom, look!" It was Ginny Weasly, Ron's youngest sister, but she wasn't pointing at Ron. "Harry Potter" she squeled. "Look, Mom! I can see--"
"Be quiet, Ginny, and it's rude to point." Mrs. Weasly smilled down at them. "Busy year?" she said.
"Very," said Harry. "Thanks for the fudge and the sweater, Mrs Weasly."
"Oh, it was nothing dear."
"Ready, are you?" It was uncle Vernon, still purple faced, still mustached, still looking furious at the nerve of Harry, carrying an owl in a cage in a station full of ordinary people. Behind him stood Aunt Petunia and Dudley, looking terrified at the very site of Harry,
" You must be Harry's family!" said Uncle Vernon. "Hurry up, boy we havn't got all day." He walked away. Harry hung back for a last minute word with Ron and Hermione.
"See you over the summer, then." "Hope you have ----er---- a good holiday," said Hermione, looking uncertainly after Uncle Vernon, shocked that anyone could be so unplesant.
"Oh, I will," said Harry, and they were surprised to see the grin that was spreading over his face." They don't know we're not allowed to use magic at home. I'm going to have a lot of fun with Dudley this summer..."
"Hurry up, Boy" yelled Uncle Vernon, over at the car.
"Well, Bye then" said Harry and he walked over. Uncle Vernon threw Harry's stuff in the trunk roughly. Harry winced at a slight crunch. Uncle Vernon tried putting Hedwig in the trunck but Harry gave him a challenging look. If possible, Uncle Vernon's face seemed to get more purple. Harry saw some shopping bags in there also that were full of video games and sweets. Harry figured, that was the only way Uncle Vernon got Dudley to leave his favorite programs, and go into London. Dudley was on one side of the car trying to take up as little possible room, so he wouldn't be near Harry, wich was extremly difficult for him. They pulled out of the parking lot and Dudley gave up because it was giving him a cramp. He sat down normally and Harry mutterd,
"Heart of a frog, wing of a bat," so only Dudley could here him." Change my cousin into a RAT!"
Dudley started crying but just told his parents he wanted some of the food in the trunk. He didn't want to upset Harry. The rest of the way home was oddly quiet. When he got to Privet Drive it seemed like anything but home. But some how he had a feeling it would be a little more interesting than usual.
