Ahh it's OBC time, seeing that PT-Osaka is Odyssey Block Constructed. I'm sure most of you have started testing different versions of Sligh, whether it be mono or R/g for mongrel's etc. The amount of ways to build OBC Sligh are countless, even with only two sets to work with. So in conjunction the deck listed below was built solely by me for playtesting at first but has since evolved into a normal Sligh deck that's fast and consistent. Just like in Jay's articles, content will be talked about after the decklist.

18x Mountains
4x Barbarian Ring

4x Spark Mage
4x Grim Lavamancer
4x Mad Dog
4x Minotaur Explorer
4x Hell-Bent Raider

4x Firebolt
4x Flame Burst
2x Skullscorch
4x Fiery Temper
1x Violent Eruption
4x Reckless Charge

Sideboard:

2x Catalyst Stone
4x Blazing Salvo
4x Lava Blister
2x Violent Eruption
3x Molten Influence

Spark Mage and Grim Lavamancer are the only two obvious choices for OBC Sligh unless you know that R/g will be big in your area, then you might put in 4 Dwarven Grunts. Spark Mage does his job very well either forcing them to block or to give Slkigh card advantage which is usally a winning condition against any deck.

Mad Dog is another obvious choice, but I'm assuming most of your are oblivious as to why in the hell I added the Explorer. For one he can take down weenies 2/2 and under and still be there for an attack, and second he helps the madness spells out tremendously. Most of the time cast you Mad Dog first then turn three either Hell-Bent Raider or the Explorer depening on if you have Fiery Temper in your hand or not. The madness spells is what makes him playable finally.

In the three slot of course it's going to the Hell-Bent Raider. A 2/2 With first strike and Haste, and the ability to be pro-white which is especilly necessary against Enforcers. Plus the ability of the discard helps to achieve threshold and to take advanatage of the madness spells.

The burn is pretty much the same as always with a few twists. One Violent Eruption, that I seem to always get off one way or another, plays a significant roll in this deck. It can either gain you advantage of the board or finish the opponent. Skullscorch actually makes it into my build but only two, beause I believe it's only a good card early. there are some occassions that it's good towards the end of the game, turn 4-6. But the majority of the time if you get this within the first few turns you've gotten a big life advantage.

Reckless Charge is ,in my opinion, one of the best 1cc spells for Sligh in a while. And it's cheap Flashback is something that is worth smiling about. Firebolt gets the obvious nod also, especially after you board in the Catalyst Stones. Flame Burst, since we don't have Volcanic Hammer, becomes the two cc burn spell of choice. You'll normally draw at least two and sometimes even three of these. The bonus with these guys is against a control deck that counters the first one making the second a virtual Volcanic Hammer.

In the Sidebaord is metagamed choices, might as well be for everyone I would suggest. If you've followed some of the beta testings of this environment you'll see that people are starting to take advantage of Flashbacking spells, most noteable Roar of the Wurm, which is a bad thing for Sligh. This is where Catalyst Stone is soo good now. Molten Influence is added for the Psychatog decks that will be made without a doubt. Lava Blister is also for Psychatog or anything with non-basics, they can either be disrupted or take 6, a good choice either way. And Blazing Salvo is there for that extra creature distruction or they can take 5, still either way it's a good decision for Sligh.
