Group shares secret to success:
Award-winning Australian group Killing Heidi have one piece of advice for young bands starting out in Dubbo - persist. While they may now be one of the most successful Australian bands they have similar groundings to many young performers in Dubbo.
"We definitely have an affinity with regional areas," said guitarist Jesse Hooper, co-founder of the band.
"It (regional Australia) is where we come from, we started out writing our songs in Violet Town in Victoria before moving to Melbourne to make our first album.
"If I could say one thing to bands starting out in Dubbo it would be to persist in what they are doing, don't give up.
"Do what you love and play the music that you love."
The band were in Dubbo yesterday as a part of a regional tour which has seen them visit Dubbo, Bathurst and Orange before moving on to southern NSW and Victoria.
"Touring out here is a very big deal to us," Jesse said.
"We are as popular here in the country as we are in the city, the only difference is the amount of fans per capita.
"A lot of bands change their attitudes when they have some success, but we have tried hard to remain the same."
Killing Heidi - Jesse along with sister Ella Hooper, Adam Pedretti and Warren Jenkin - release their new album later this month and intend to start an Australian tour early to mid next year.
