The phone has become somewhat of an idol to the social world of the 21st century. Not only is it used to contact business associates and contact loved ones in cases of emergency, but it is also used for people to get on it and go on and on about nothing whatsoever. I'll admit some of those long conversations actually have some substance. I had a nice conversation for quite a while getting to know one my associates. But most of the time it's just teenage chatter. Sometimes it's about boys, other's it's about girls. It's about what happened on Dawson's Crack (not a typo) last night. The fact of the matter is, it's usually just jabber that, really, nobody cares about. Sure, Billy's cute, who cares? Does this guys looks have any effect on me at all? I didn't think so. So you may be thinking that I'm caught in a whim. I'm against talking on the phone for non-important reasons. Well, that is far from the truth. I think that talking on the phone casually is all good, but why don't you talk about something that matters. Rather than talking about something that doesn't effect anybody, such as said cute guy, talk about something that does affect you. Like the Spanish test. "Man that was a hard test. How do yo think you did?" That's substance. I can't blame people though. They talk about absolutely nothing on the phone, just so they have somebody to talk to. To drown their loneliness, which is only fueled by their boredom and self-loathing. Of course, when I'm bored I go out. I actually talk to people in person. It's much better to be able to talk with your hands and emotional expressions, rather than have to stress yourself when talking on the phone to get your point across. Talking in person is much better. It's like choosing to either cook on the stove or with the George Foreman grill. Sure the George Foreman grill is much easier to use, but you don't get to stare at all the pretty grease boiling and popping everywhere. Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
