Here's a little story bout a man named Steve, he started AOL and made all his members heave. Then one day his system made my 'puter crash, so I made preparations to stick my foot right up his [expletive-deleted].
Many of you know that I despise AOL. So I decided I would tell you the whole story in a little storytime. So here it goes:
Once upon a time(actually it was 1996), I was in junior high school. I was in 7th grade, and at that time the internet was becoming very popular. I didn't have a very good computer. Just this crappy little 100 mhz Dell, with Windows 3.0(not able to get internet access). So one day I came home from school, and to my surprise my grandfather had bought me $5000 dollars in top-of-the-line computer equipment. He said that since I am excelled in computer skills I would need something to help me make it a little further. The computer consisted of a 233 mhz pentium pro, with a 23 in monitor, 128 mb of ram, and large(at the time) twin hard drives of 3 gigabytes each. I also had a 16 by 8 inch flat-bad scanner by hp and a 600 dimple printer. I don't remember all the specs on everything because that was a long time ago. I also had a 33.6 modem, which was still something to brag about because the 56k had just come out after I got it. My grandpa was an executive at Bell telephone company, so he was able to get us a deal with them where we only pay like 15 bucks a month(internet was a luxery item and very expensive at the time). So we stayed on there, happy as can be with no problems whatsoever. That internet service, was by far the best I've been on in my long adventure. Then came a day that I thought would be a dark one. My grandpa switched internet services over to wt net, which I thought was going to be very unreliable and horrible. Well, it turns out that they offer higher quality service at a cheap price of $9.00 a month and you can pay tri-monthly or yearly. So we switched over. Previously, my father, had moved to Mont Belvieu, so I lived in Crystal Beach with my grandparents because I wanted to graduate with my friends. Well, my grandpa thought that I would need a computer when I visited my father in Mont Belvieu on the weekends, so he bought a computer for his house, which completely blew the one at my grandparent's house away. It was maybe 1998 or 1999 and at the time, computers were constantly getting better and better and more advanced. So I was in heaven. The question was, which internet service would we join? Certainly, we could join wt net, but why would we want to join that? AOL had grown into a technological empire, swallowing internet companies and even other types of companies whole. They offered member services that weren't available at any other internet companies other than those AOL subsidiaries such as gateway net, which was the exact same thing. So we joined AOL. Things seemed to go perfectly fine for the short while I didn't live there. I thought it was rather strange that every weekend when I came over I had to fix something for my dad on the comp though. I figured my dad was screwing up the computer. Little did I know it was much different. The day I finished my freshman year I finished moving my things into my father's house, because several months earlier I had decided to move in with him. Once again things with AOL were going fine for quite a while when I was on version 5.0. Off and on there were some problems, I got me a virus that crashed my computer and I had to have my hard drive replaced, but that was just a minor set-back(thank God to back-ups). Now, you would think that after such a mishap I would get off AOL for not filtering out viruses and other such junk mail, but I blamed that on my own stupidity, which I still believe is mostly responsible. So we stayed on AOL. Then the day came. I got another computer. Not much better as far as the specs go, but I didn't have a 3d accelerator anymore, which sucked. But it had a v.90, which is what I had on the last computer, and a dvd rom, a cd burner, and a zip drive. So once again I was in exstacy. I also got me a disc to the new version of AOL, 6.0. Ithought it was awesome, even though it was rather ugly. After a while, I realized exactly what AOL was and why so many people complained about it. I sure could get a connection at the perfect speed, and yes it does have services that you can't get anywhere else. But it would kick me off and when it kicked me off, the new client would freeze my computer. I figured it was maybe my computer, so I ran scandisk. Nothing. So I came to the conclusion that maybe it was my phone line(the stupidest assumption by far). So I didn't worry too much. Just stayed off the net for a week and everything was fine again....so I thought. Later that week it happened again. It finally made me mad enough. I began making preparations to join another internet service. I got me an AIM screen name, added everybody I knew and I shopped around. So I decided I would join my trusty wt net. It was much cheaper, more reliable, and after alot of thinking I realized it didn't have all of the "make-up" used to make AOL look nice and hook people in to paying an expensive price for stuff you already have on the net(see Rant on AOL). So we got off of AOL and we joined wt net, where we lived happily ever after, besides of course a few problems with our phone line. But that a whole different rant I might just get to later this week.
So that's my story, in a nutshell of course. So I hope you enjoyed the whole thing as much as I didn't enjoy writing it.

I wanna know what kinda feedback you have for me. Tell me what you think.
