ALBANIA

King Leka of the Albanians died at Tirana on 30 November.

[He was born at Tirana on 5 April 1939, only child of King Zog of the Albanians (1895-1961) and his wife, Countess Geraldine Apponyi (1915-2002). He spent most of his life in exile, and never reigned, but assumed the title King. In 1975 he married Susan Barbara Cullen-Ward (1941-2004). Marc Bernath and his wife, Princess Julia Katharine of Anhalt (daughter of Eduard, Duke of Anhalt and of his wife, née Corinna Krönlein) had a first son born in 2011. (added 24 Dec 2011)

AUSTRIA

Archduke Martin of Austria and his wife, née Princess Katharina zu Isenburg, had their fourth child, Luigi Amedeo Thadeus, at Pavia on 12 February. (added 13 Feb 2011)

Comte Rodolphe de Limburg-Stirum (b.Uccle 20 March 1979, son of Comte Christian de Limburg-Stirum and of his wife, née Comtesse Colienne d'Oultremont) and his wife, née Archduchess Marie-Christine of Austria (b.Brussels 31 July 1983, daughter of Archduke Carl Christian of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Marie-Astrid of Luxembourg) had their first child, Léopold, at Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 19 April. The engagement was announced between Ulrich Graf von Mamming (b.14 Dec 1982, son of Georg Graf von Mamming and of Kunigunde Gräfin von Mamming, nee Gräfin von Kielmannsegg [herself the daughter of Oswald Graf von Kielmannsegg and of Eveline Maria Prinzessin von Croÿ]) and Archduchess Veronika Anna of Austria (b.Linz 3 Jan 1982, daughter of Archduke Karl Salvator of Austria and of Edith Wenzl, Freiin von Sternbach). Archduke Otto of Austria died at Pöcking on 4 July.

[He was born at Villa Wartholz bei Reichenau on 20 November 1912, son of Emperor Karl of Austira and of his wife, Princess Zita of Bourbn-Parma, and had been head of the Imperial House since his father’s death in 1922, until relinquishing the role to his elder son in 2007. In 1951 he married Princess Regina of Saxe-Meiningen (1925-2010), and is survived by their seven children and their families.] (added 4 Jul 2011)

Archduchess Marie Valerie of Austria, née Gräfin von Waldburg au Zeil und Trauchburg, died in July.

[She was born at Wallsee on 28 June 1913, daughter of Georg Graf von Waldburg au Zeil und Trauchburg (1878-1955) and of his wife, Archduchess Elisabeth of Austria (1892-1930). In 1936 she married Archduke Georg of Austria (1905-1952), and is survived by a son and a daughter, an elder son having died young.] (added 14 Jul 2011)

Archduke Felix of Austria died in Mexico on 6 September.

[He was born at Schönbrunn on 31 May 1916, son of Emperor Karl of Austira and of his wife, Princess Zita of Bourbn-Parma. In 1952 he married Princess Anne-Eugénie von Arenberg (1925-1997), and is survived by two sons and four daughters, another son having predeceased him, and their families.] (added 7 Sep 2011)

Prince Rasso of Bavaria died at Tutzing on 12 September.

[He was born at Leutstetten on 24 May 1926, son of Prince Franz of Bavaria (1875-1957) and of Princess Isabella von Croy (1890-1982). Since 1955 he was married to Archduchess Theresa of Austria (daughter of Archduke Theodor Salvator of Austria and of Maria Theresa Gräfin von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg). BRAZIL

Dona Maria Elizabeth de Orléans e Bragança (daughter of Prince Francisco de Orléans e Bragança [himself the son of Prince Pedro Henrique de Orléans e Bragança and of his wife, Princess Maria of Bavaria] and of his wife, Claudia Regina Godinho) married Pablo Trindade de Souza on 6 August at Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Glória, in Rio de Janeiro. Princess Teresa Maria Theodora of Orléans-Braganza died at Estoril on 18 April.

[She was born at Boulogne-Billancourt on 18 June 1919, daughter of Prince Pedro de Alcantara of Orléans-Braganza (1875-1940) and of Elisabeth Gräfin Dobrzensky von Dobrzenicz (1875-1951). Princess Maria of Orleans-Bragança, née Princess of Bavaria, died at Rio de Janeiro on 13 May.

[She was born at Nymphenburg on 9 September 1914, daughter of Prince Franz of Bavaria (1875-1957) and of his wife, Princess Isabella von Croy (1890-1982). Dom Eudes de Orléans e Bragança Filho (son of Dom Eudes de Orléans e Bragança and of his second wife, née Mercedes Neves da Rocha) and his wife, née Patrícia Annechino Landau, had their first children, Eudes and Valentina, at Rio de Janeiro on 8 June. (added 8 Jun 2011)

DENMARK

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and of her husband, Prince Henrik [born Henri de Laborde de Monpezat]) and his wife, née Mary Donaldson (daughter of Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson and his first wife Henrietta Clark) had twins, a son and a daughter, their third and fourth children, at Copenhagen on 8 January. The twins were christened on 14 April, with the names Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander, and Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda, respectively. (updated 14 Apr 2011)

Prince Joachim of Denmark (son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and of her husband, Prince Henrik [born Henri de Laborde de Monpezat]) and his wife, Princess Marie, née Cavallier (daughter of Alain Cavallier and Françoise Grassiot) are expecting their second child together in late January 2012. Prince Jean d’Orléans, Duc de Vendôme (son of Prince Henri d'Orléans, Count of Paris and his first wife Marie Therese, née Duchess of Württemberg) and his wife Philomena de Tornos y Steinhart (daughter of Alfonso de Tornos y Zubiría and Maria Antonia Anna Zdenka Edle von Steinhart) are expecting their second child in January 2012. Prince Charles-Philippe d'Orléans (son Prince Michel d'Orléans, Comte d'Evreux [son of Henri, Comte de Paris and Princess Isabella of Orléans and Braganza] and Béatrice Pasquier de Franclieu) and his wife Diana, née Álvares Pereira de Melo, Duquesa de Cadaval (daughter of Jaime III Álvares Pereira de Melo, 10th Duque de Cadaval and his second wife Claudine Marguerite Marianne Tritz), are expecting their first child in February 2012. GREAT BRITAIN and NORTHERN IRELAND

Prince William of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (son of Prince Charles of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Prince of Wales [himself the son of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, né Prince of Greece and Denmark], and of his late former wife, née Lady Diana Spencer) married Catherine “Kate” Elizabeth Middleton at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. Earlier that day he was created Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, and Baron Carrickfergus. (updated 29 Apr 2011)

George Henry Hubert Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood, died at Harewood House on 11 July.

[He was born at Chesterfield House on 7 February 1923, son of Henry Lascelles, 6^th Earl of Harewood (1882-1947) and of Princess Mary of Great Britain and Ireland, Princess Royal (1897-1965). He was married firstly, from 1949 to 1967, to Marion Stein, and secondly, since 1967, to Patricia Tuckwell. He is survived by her and by his four sons.] (added 11 Jul 2011)

Prince Nikolaos of Greece (eldest son of King Constantine II of the Hellenes and of his wife, née Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark) and his wife Princess Tatiana, née Blatnik (daughter of Ladislav Blatnik and his wife, Marie Blanche Bierlein) are expecting their first child in spring 2012. Prince Aimone of Savoy, Duca di Apulia (son of Prince Amedeo of Savoy, Duca di Aosta, and of first his wife, née Princess Claude d'Orléans) and his wife, née Princess Olga of Greece (daughter of Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark and of his wife, née Marina Karella) had their second child, Amedeo, at Paris on 24 May. LIECHTENSTEIN

Princess Tatiana of Liechtenstein (daughter of Prince Hans Adam II of Liechtenstein and of his wife, née Marie Gräfin Kinsky von Wchinitz u.Tettau) and her husband Philipp von Lattorff had their seventh child and second son, Maximilian, on 17 December. (added 20 Dec 2011)

LUXEMBURG

Elisabeth, Duchess von Hohenberg, née Princess of Luxemburg, died on 22 November.

MECKLENBURG

Duchess Ilona of Mecklenburg, née Archduchess of Austria, died at Bad Krozingen on 12 January.

[She was born at Budapest on 20 April 1927, daughter of Archduke Joseph of Austria and of his wife, Princess Anna of Saxony. From 1946 to 1974 she was married to Duke Georg Alexander of Mecklenburg (1921-1996). She is survived by their four children.] (added 14 Jan 2011)

MONACO

Princess Antoinette of Monaco, Baronne de Massy, died on 17 March.

[She was born at Paris on 28 December 1920, daughter of Comte Pierre de Polignac, Duc de Valentinois, Prince of Monaco, and of his wife, Charlotte of Monaco, Duchesse de Valentinois (herself the daughter of Prince Louis II of Monaco and of Marie Juliette Louvet). OLDENBURG

Duchess Gertrud of Oldenburg, née Princess zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg, died on 4 February.

[She was born at Langenzell on 24 January 1926, daughter of Udo Fürst zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg and of Margarete Gräfin zu Castell-Castell. Since 1951 she had been married to Duke Peter of Oldenburg (son of Hereditary Grand Duke Nikolaus of Oldenburg and of Primcess Helene of Waldeck und Pyrmont. Comte Axel de Chavagnac (son of Comte and Comtesse Alain-Xavier de Chavagnac) and his wife, Duchess Tatjana of Oldenburg (daughter of Duke Johann of Oldenburg and of his wife, née Ilka Gräfin zu Ortenburg) had their first child, Alexandrine, on 30 September. (added 7 Oct 2011)

PARMA

Princess Margarita of Bourbon-Parma, Contessa di Colorno (daughter of Prince Carlos Hugo of Bourbon-Parma and of his former wife, Princess Irene of the Netherlands), and her husband, Tjalling ten Cate, had their second, Paola Cecilia Laurentien, at The Hague on 25 February. (updated 28 Feb 2011)

Prince André of Bourbon-Parma died on 22 October.

Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Parma, Duke of Parma and Piacenza (son of Prince Carlos Hugo of Bourbon-Parma, Duke of Parma and Princess Irene of the Netherlands), and his wife Annemarie Gualthérie van Weezel (daughter of Hans Gualthérie van Weezel and Ank de Visser), are expecting their first child together in May, 2012. Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia (son of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia [himself the son of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia and of Grand Duchess Kira of Russia] and of Donata Gräfin zu Castell-Rüdenhausen [herself the daughter of Siegfried Fürst zu Castell-Rüdenhausen and of Irene Gräfin zu Solms-Laubach]) married Princess Sophie von Isenburg (daughter of Franz Alexander Fürst von Isenburg [himself the son of Franz Ferdinand Fürst von Isenburg and of Countess Irina Tolstoy] and of Christine Gräfin von Saurma, Freiin v.u.zu der Jeltsch [herself the daughter of Johann Franz Achatius Maria Graf v.Saurma and of Maria Blanka Eleonore Antonie Gräfin v.Maldeghem]) in a civil ceremony at Potsdam on 25 August, followed by a religious wedding in Potsdam on 27 August. Princess Benigna Reuss (b.1980, daughter of Prince Heinrich X Reuss and of his first wife, Baroness Elisabeth Akerhielm af Margarethelund) married Oscar de Ascoz y Planes at Schleiz on 3 September. The couple is expecting their first child in June, 2012. (updated 22 Dec 2011)

Prince Heinrich X Reuss (b.Büdingen 28 Jul 1948, son of Prince Heinrich I Reuss and of Duchess Woizlawa-Feodora of Mecklenburg-Schwerin) will marry, thirdly, on 3 December, Lucina Wolffersdorf-Zajder. A religious wedding is to follow in 2012. (added 22 Nov 2011)

Angelica Ilyinsky, née Kauffman, widow of Prince Paul Ilyinsky (1928-2004), himself the son of Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich of Russia, died at Palm Beach, Florida, on 19 November. (added 22 Nov 2011)

SAXE-COBURG-GOTHA

Princess Katrin of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, née Bremme, died at Grein on 13 July.

[She was born at Berlin on 22 April 1940, and married in 1964, as his third wife, Prince Friedrich Josias of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (1918-1998), son of Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Prince of Great Britain and Ireland, and of his wife, Princess Viktoria Adelheid of Schleswig-Holstein.] (added 19 Jul 2011)

SCHAUMBURG-LIPPE

Alexander Fürst zu Schaumburg-Lippe and his wife, Nadja Anna Zsoeks, had their second child together, his third, Philomena, at Munich on 10 July. (added 14 Jul 2011)

SPAIN

Bruno Alexander Gomez-Acebo y de Borbon (son of Luis Gomez-Acebo y de Estrada and of his wife, Infanta Pilar of Spain, Duquesa de Badajoz) and his wife, née Barbara Cano de la Plaza, had their third child, Alvaro, at Madrid on 30 May. (added 8 Jun 2011)

SWEDEN

Svenska Dagbladet announced the death of Miles Flach, of Swedish noble family no 1606. He was born on August 10th 1934, and died on January 6th 2011. He was married in his first marriage 1958-1967 with Marianne von Arbin (died in 2006), descendant of Prince Oscar Bernadotte, second son of King Oscar II of Sweden. Miles and Marianne has one daughter, Camilla, born December 22nd 1960. He has also two daughters in his second marriage. Funeral will be held on February 11th, with a reception afterwards at Riddarhuset. (added 19 Jan 2011)

The engagement was announced between Oscar Magnuson (son of Tord Magnuson and of Princess Christina of Sweden) and his long-time girlfriend Emma Ledent. They were engaged on February 11th 2011 in Gattiéres, France. (added 20 Feb 2011)

Count Edward Bernadotte af Wisborg (son of Count Bertil Bernadotte [himself the son of Ct Folke Bernadotte (1895-1948), who was himself son of Prince Oscar of Sweden (1859-1953)] and of his wife, née Jill Georgina Rhodes-Maddox) married on 29 May Nathalie Frediani at Villa Rusconi-Clerici in Italy. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland (daughter of King Karl XVI Gustav and his wife Queen Silvia, [born Silvia Renate Sommerlath]) and her husband Prince Daniel of Sweden, Duke of Västergötland (son of Olle Gunnar and Anna Eva Kristina Westling) are expecting their first child in March 2012. TWO SICILIES
