Archduchess Regina of Austria, née Princess of Saxe-Meiningen, died at Pöcking on 3 February.

 

[She was born at Würzburg on 6 January 1925, daughter of Duke Georg of Saxe-Meiningen and of his wife, née Klara-Maria Gräfin von Korff gt. Schmissing-Kerssenbrock. Since 1951 she had been married to Archduke Otto of Austria, oldest son of Emperor Karl of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Zita of Bourbon-Parma. Archduke Rudolf of Austria died on 15 May.

 

[He was born at Prangins on 5 September 1919, son of Emperor Karl of Austria and of his wife, Princess Zita of Bourbon-Parma. He was married firstly in 1953 to Countess Xenia Tschernyschev-Besobrasov (1929-1968), and secondly, in 1971, to Princess Anna Gabrielle von Wrede. He is survived by her, four children, and fifteen grandchildren. One son predeceased him.] (added 16 May 2010)

 

Archduchess Catharina of Austria (daughter of Archduke Rudolf of Austria and of his second wife Princess Anna Gabriele von Wrede) and her husband Count Massimiliano Secco d'Aragona (dei marchesi di Fornovo) had a third son, Rodolfo, on 15 June. (added 2 July 2010)

 

BAVARIA

Prince Manuel of Bavaria (son of Prince Leopold of Bavaria and of his wife, née Ursula Möhlenkamp) and his wife, née Princess Anna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (daughter of Prince Ludwig-Ferdinand zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and of his wife, née Countess Yvonne Wachtmeister af Johannishus) had their second child, Alva Manuelle Maria Petra Yvonne, on 5 January. Dr. Klaus Runow and his wife, Princess Maria Anna of Bavaria (daughter of Max-Emanuel, Duke in Bavaria, and of his wife, née Elisabeth Gräfin Douglas) had their first child, Heinrich, at Munich on 3 May. (added 8 May1 2010)

Princess Irmingard of Bavaria died on 23 October.

Countess Ruth af Rosenborg died on 25 July.

 

[She was born Alice Ruth Nielsen in Copenhagen on 8 October 1924. In 1949 she married Count Flemming af Rosenborg (1922-2002), Prince Flemming of Denmark (son of Prince Axel of Denmark [himself the son of Prince Waldemar of Denmark and of Princess Marie d’Orléans] and of Princess Margaretha of Sweden [herself the daughter of Prince Carl of Sweden and of Princess Ingeborg of Denmark]). Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and of her husband, Prince Henrik [born Henri de Laborde de Monpezat]) and his wife, née Mary Donaldson (daughter of Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson and his first wife Henrietta Clark) are expecting twins, their third and fourth children, in January 2011. Luis Alfonso de Borbón y Martinez-Bordiu, Duc d'Anjou (son of Alfonso de Borbón, Duque de Cádiz, Duc d'Anjou et de Bourbon, and of his wife, née Carmen Martinez-Bordiú y Franco), and his wife, née María Margarita Vargas Santaella, had twin sons, Luis and Alfonso, their second and third children, at New York on 28 May. Alexander Patrick Gregers Richard Windsor, Earl of Ulster (son of Prince Richard Alexander Walter George of Great-Britain and Northern-Ireland, Duke of Gloucester, and of his wife, née Birgitte Eva van Deurs) and his wife, née Claire Booth, had their second child, Cosima Rose Alexandra, on 20 May. HOHENZOLLERN

 

Hereditary Prince Karl Friedrich von Hohenzollern (son of Friedrich Wilhelm Fürst von Hohenzollern and of Princess Margarita zu Leiningen) married, as his second wife, Katharina de Zomer at Schloß Umkirch on 17 July. (added 20 Jul 2010)

 

Friedrich Wilhelm Fürst von Hohnzollern died at Umkirch on 16 September.

 

[He was born at Umkirch on 3 February 1924, son of Friedrich Fürst von Hohenzollern (1891-1965) and of Princess Margarete of Saxony (1900-1962). In 1951 he married Princess Margarita zu Leiningen (1932-1996), daughter of Karl Fürst zu Leiningen and of Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna of Russia. Prince Ferdinand zur Lippe-Weißenfeld (son of Prince Ferdinand zur Lippe-Weißenfeld and of his wife, née Karoline Freiin von Feilitzsch) married Princess Auguste of Bavaria (daughter of Prince Luitpold of Bavaria and of his wife, née Beatrix Wiegand) at Kloster Andechs on 5 June. Countess Camilla Holstein-Ledreborg died on 4 July.

 

[She was born at Ledreborg on 26 February 1959, daughter of Knud Lehnsgraf Holstein til Ledreborg (1919-2001) and of his wife, Princess Marie Gabrielle of Luxembourg (b.1925, daughter of Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg and of her husband, Prince Félix of Bourbon-Parma). Comte Axel de Chavagnac (son of Comte and Comtesse Alain-Xavier de Chavagnac) married Duchess Tatjana of Oldenburg (daughter of Duke Johann of Oldenburg and of his wife, née Ilka Gräfin zu Ortenburg) at Eutin on 11 September. (updated 12 Sep 2010)

 

Joseph-Maria von Radowitz and his wife, née Duchess Sophie of Oldenburg (daughter of Duke Huno of Oldenburg and of his wife, née Felicitas-Anita Gräfin Schwerin von Krosigk) had their third child, Enzo Alexander Stephan Philip, at Traunstein on 23 August. (added 1 Sep 2010)

 

Sven Andreas von Storch (b.Chile 1970) married Duchess Beatrix Amelie Ehrengard Eilika of Oldenburg (b.Lübeck 27 May 1971, daughter of Duke Huno of Oldenburg and his wife Felicitas-Anita Gräfin Schwerin von Krosigk) in a civil ceremony on 22 October, and a religious ceremony at Schloß Eutin on 23 October. PARMA

 

Carlos Hugo, Duke of Parma and Piacenza, died at Barcelona on 18 August.

 

[He was born at Paris on 8 April 1930, son of Prince Francis Xavier of Bourbon-Parma (who succeeded his nephew as Duke of Parma and Piacenza in 1974) and of Madeleine de Bourbon-Busset. He succeeded his father in 1977. He was married from 1964 to 1981 to Princess Irene of the Netherlands (daughter of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and of Prince Bernhard zur Lippe). He is survived by their four children and two grandchildren. The elder son, Carlos Xavier, succeeds as Duke of Parma and Piacenza, and he married on 12 June at Wijk bij Duurstede, Netherlands, Annemarie Gualthérie van Weezel in a civil ceremony; their religious wedding was scheduled for 28 August but was postponed because of his father’s death. The new Duke of Parma’s religious wedding was held at Abbey of La Cambre, Brussels on 20 November.] (updated 20 Nov 2010)

Giorgio Pasotti and his companion, Nicoletta Consolo Romanoff (daughter of Senator Giuseppe Consolo and of Princess Natasha Romanoff [herself daughter of Prince Nicolai Romanoff and of Sveva dei conti della Gherardesca]) had their first child together, a daughter, Maria, in Rome on 19 January. Grand Duchess Leonida of Russia, née Princess Bagration, died at Madrid on 23 May.

 

[She was born at Tbilisi on 23 September 1914, daughter of Prince George Bagration and of his wife, Elena Zlotnicky. From 1934 to 1937 she was married to Sumner Moore Kirby (1895-1945), by whom she had a daughter. SAXE-COBURG-GOTHA

 

Prince Johannes Heinrich of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha died on 14 April.

 

[He was born at Innsbruck on 28 March 1931, son of Prince Rainer of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and of his first wife, Johanna Károlyi de Károly-Patty. He married firstly in 1957 Marie-Gabrielle Freiin von Fürstenberg. He was married secondly, from 1968 to 1993, Princess Mathilde of Saxony. SAXE-WEIMAR

 

Elisabeth, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar, née Freiin von Wangenheim-Winterstein, died at Munich on 15 March.

The Swedish Royal Court announced that the engagement between Jonas Claes Bergström and Princess Madeleine of Sweden, Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland (daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and of his wife, née Silvia Sommerlath), has been cancelled. (added 26 Apr 2010)

 

 

TWO SICILIES

 

James T D Moss-Gibbons and his wife, née Michelle Laura de Bourbon (daughter of Adrian Philip de Bourbon [himself the son of Prince Gaetan of Bourbon-Two Sicilies and of his wife, née Olivia Yarrow] and of his wife, née Linda Idensohn), had their first child, Emma Rose, on 7 June. Prince Pedro of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duca di Noto (son of Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Two Sicilies and of his wife, née Princess Anne d'Orléans), and his wife, née Sofia Landaluce y Melgarejo, are expecting their sixth child in 2011. (added 12 Dec 2010)

 

 

 

YUGOSLAVIA

 

Howard Oxenberg, first husband of Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia (daughter of Paul, Prince Regent of Yugoslavia, and of his wife, Princess Olga of Greece and Denmark), died on 25 June. They were married from 1960 to 1966, and had two daughters, Catherine and Christina. Catherine Oxenberg is a noted actress and is married to the actor, Caspar Van Dien. (added 14 Jul 2010)
