Princess Alice of Bavaria (b.Landsberg am Lech 25 June 1981, daughter of Pr Luitpold of Bavaria and of his wife, née Beatrix Wiegand) married Prince Lukas von Auersperg (b.St.Pölten 27 August 1981, son of Prince Andreas von Auersperg and of his wife, née Julia Griffith) on 29 August. Eleonore Gräfin von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg, née Princess of Bavaria, died on 19 August.

 

[She was born at Nymphenburg on 11 September 1918, daughter of Prince Franz of Bavaria and of his wife, née Princess Isabella von Croy. In 1951 she married Konstantin Graf von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg (1909-1972), son of Georg Fürst von Waldburg zu Zeil u.Trauchburg and of his wife, née Marie Therese Altgräfin zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Raitz. BELGIUM

 

Prince Alexandre of Belgium died on 29 November.

BRAZIL

 

Alexander Graf zu Stolberg-Stolberg (son of Franz Graf zu Stolberg-Stolberg and of his wife, née Jacqueline Florin de Duikingberg) married Princess Isabel of Orléans-Bragança (daughter of Prince Fernando of Orléans-Bragança and of his wife, née Maria da Graça de Siqueira Carvalho de Baère de Araújo) at Rio de Janeiro on 16 October. Prince Gabriel José of Orleans-Braganza (son of Prince Pedro de Alcantara of Orleans-Braganza and of his wife, née Maria de Fatima Lacerda Rocha) will marry Luciana Guaspari on 18 July. (updated 14 Jun 2009)

 

Prince Pedro Luiz of Orléans-Braganza (son of Prince Antonio of Orléans-Braganza [himself the son of Prince Pedro Henrique of Orléans-Braganza and of his wife, née Princess Maria of Bavaria] and of his wife, née Princess Christine de Ligne [herself the daughter of Prince Antoine de Ligne and of his wife, née Princess Alix of Luxembourg]) died along with more than 200 other people when an airplane went down over the Atlantic on a flight between Brazil and France on 1 June. Rodrigo Otavio Broglia Mendes and his wife, née Princess Maria Pia of Orleans-Braganza (daughter of Prince Pedro of Orleans-Braganza and of his wife, née Maria de Fatima Lacerda Rocha), had their second child, Pedro, at São Paulo on 30 January. (added 11 Aug 2009)

 

Princess Patricia of Orléans-Braganza, née Brascombe, died on 20 November. She had been married since 1982 to Prince Pedro Carlos of Orléans-Braganza.

 

BULGARIA

Jorge Champalimaud Raposo de Magalhães and his wife, née Alexandra-Nadejda Chrobok (daughter of Bronislaw Chrobok and of his wife, Princess Maria Luisa of Bulgaria) are expecting their third child in Spring 2010. (added 4 Nov 2009)

 

DENMARK

 

Prince Joachim of Denmark (son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and of her husband, Prince Henrik [born Henri de Laborde de Monpezat]) and his wife, née Marie Cavallier, had their first child together, Henrik Carl Joachim Alain, at Copenhagen on 4 May. Morten Rønnow and his wife, née Countess Feodora af Rosenborg (daughter of Count Christian af Rosenborg, Prince of Denmark, and of his wife, née Anne-Dorthe Maltoft-Nielsen) had their first child, Caroline-Mathilde Margrethe, at Copenhagen on 1 February. (added 6 Feb 2009)

FRANCE (BOURBON)

Luis Alfonso de Borbón y Martinez-Bordiu, Duc d'Anjou (son of Alfonso de Borbón, Duque de Cádiz, Duc d'Anjou et de Bourbon, and of his wife, née Carmen Martinez-Bordiú y Franco), and his wife, née María Margarita Vargas Santaella, are expecting twins, their second and third children, in Spring 2010. FRANCE (ORLÉANS)

The civil wedding of Prince Jean d’Orléans, Duc de Vendôme (son of Prince Henri d’Orléans, Comte de Paris, and of his first wife, née Duchess Maria Theresa of Württemberg, later Duchesse de Montpensier) and Philomena de Tornos y Steinhart took place a Paris on 19 March. The religious ceremony took place at the Cathedral of Senlis on 2 May 2009. Their first child, Gaston Louis Antoine Marie, was born at Paris on 19 November. (updated 19 Nov 2009)

 

Pierre Louis Dailly and his wife, née Princess Adelaide d'Orléans (daughter of Prince Michel d'Orléans, Comte d'Evreux, and of his wife, née Béatrice de Pasquier de Franclieu), had their third, Gaetano, at Paris on 25 August. (updated 11 Sep 2009)

 

Prince Henri d’Orléans, Comte de Paris, who at one time styled himself Duc de France, head of the Orléans branch of the French royal family, and his wife, née Michaela Cousino Quinones de Leon, were married in a religious ceremony at Château Arcangues, near Biarritz, on 26 September. Their civil  wedding was in 1984. The Roman Catholic Church recently annulled the first marriage of Henri with duchess Marie Thérèse of Wurtemberg, Duchesse de Montpensier. Benjamin George Lascelles (son of David Henry George Lascelles, Viscount Lascelles [himself the son of George Henry Hubert Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood (himself the son of Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood, and of his wife, née Mary, Princess Royal of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), and of his wife, née Marion Stein], and of his first wife, née Margaret Messenger) married Caroline Velez Robledo at Harewood House on 18 April. Richard Paul George Andrew Brandram (b.1948, son of Richard Campbell Andrew Brandram and of his wife, née Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark [herself the daughter of King Constantine I of the Hellenes and of his wife, née Princess Sophie of Prussia]) marriedd Mrs Kate H. The engagement was announced between Prince Nicholas of Greece (son of King Constantine II of the Hellenes [himself the son of King Paul of the Hellenes and of his wife, née Princess Frederica of Hannover] and of his wife, née Prinvcess Anne-Marie of Denmark [herself the daughter of King Frederik IX of Denmark and of his wife, née Princess Ingrid of Sweden]) and Tatiana Blatnik. Prince Aimone of Savoy, Duca di Apulia (son of Prince Amedeo of Savoy, Duca di Aosta, and of first his wife, née Princess Claude d'Orléans) and his wife, née Princess Olga of Greece (daughter of Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark and of his wife, née Marina Karella) had their first child, Umberto, at Paris on 7 March. LIECHTENSTEIN

 

Princess Marie Christine of Liechtenstein, died on 27 February.

 

[She was born at Graz on 2 February 1933, daughter of Prince Alfred of Liechtenstein and of his wife, née Princess Ludmila von Lobkowicz. From 1960 to 1973 she was married to Roland de Roys de Lédignan Saint Michel. She is survived by their children.] (added 28 Feb 2009)

 

Princess Clothilde of Liechtenstein, née Princess von Thurn und Taxis, died at Heidenheim an der Brenz on 1 September.

 

[She was born at Regensburg on 30 November 1922, daughter of Karl August Fürst von Thurn und Taxis (himself the son of Albrecht, Fürst von Thurn und Taxis and of his wife, née Archduchess Margareta of Austria) and of his wife, née Infanta Maria Anna of Portugal (herself the daughter of Infant Miguel of Portugal, Duke of Braganza, and of his second wife, née Princess Marie Therese zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg). In 1944 she married Prince Hans-Moritz of Liechtenstein (1914-2004), son of Prince Alfred of Liechtenstein and of his wife, Princess Theresia Maria zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Wallerstein. Prince Dominik of Liechtenstein (b.1950, son of Prince Karl Alfred of Liechtenstein and of his wife, née Archduchess Agnes of Austria) died at Vienna on 20 September. He had married Eva Maria Loesch (1943-1998) in 1980. (added 24 Sep 2009)

Philipp von Lattorff and his wife, Princess Tatiana of Liechtenstein (daughter of reigning Prince Hans Adam of Liechtenstein and of his wife, née Marie Gräfin Kinsky von Wchinitz u.Tettau) had their sixth child, Sophie Katharina Maria, at Goldgeben on 30 October. (added 3 Nov 2009)

 

 

LUXEMBURG

 

Prince Jean of Luxemburg (son of Grand Duke Jean of Luxemburg and of his wife, née Princess Josephine Charlotte of Belgium) married Diane de Guerre in a civil ceremony at Roermond, Netherlands, on 18 March. (added 22 Mar 2009)

 

NETHERLANDS

Prince Floris of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven (son of Pieter van Vollenhoven and of his wife, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands) and his wife, née Aimée Söhngen, had their second child, Eliane Sophia Caroline, in Amsterdam on 5 July. (added 5 Jul 2009)

 

Bernardo Guillermo (son of Jorge Guillermo and of his former wife, Princess Christina of the Netherlands [herself the daughter of Queen Juliana of the Netherlansas and of her husband, Prince Bernhard zur Lippe]) married Eva Prinz y Valdes in a civil ceremony, and they had their first child, Isabel Christina, at New York on 13 April. OLDENBURG

 

Joseph-Maria von Radowitz and his wife, née Duchess Sophie of Oldenburg (daughter of Duke Huno of Oldenburg and of his wife, née Felicitas-Anita Gräfin Schwerin von Krosigk) had their second child, Aglaë Katharina Ines Christine, at Traunstein on 9 January. (added 9 Sep 2009)

Princess Jacques of Bourbon-Parma, née Countess of Holstein-Ledreborg, died on 21 August.

In 1947 she married Prince Jacques of Bourbon-Parma (1922-1964), son of Prince René of Bourbon-Parma and of his wife, née Princess Margrethe of Denmark. Princess Marie Christine of Bourbon-Parma (daughter of Elie, Duke of Parma [himself the son of Robert I, Duke of Parma, and of his wife, née Princess Pia of Bourbon-Two Sicilies] and of his wife, née Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria [herself the daughter of Archduke Friedrich of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Isabelle de Croÿ]) died at Vienna on 1 September. PRUSSIA

 

Princess Luise of Prussia (born at Klein-Glienicke on 23 August 1917, daughter of Prince Friderich Sigismund of Prussia and of his wife, née Princess Marie Luise zu Schaumburg-Lippe) died at Schloss Bückeburg on 23 March. From 1942 to 1949 she had been married to Hans Reinhold, and is survived by their son. (added 26 Mar 2009)

 

 

Princess Felicitas of Prussia died at Wohltorf on 1 August.

 

[She was born at Bonn on 7 June 1934, daughter of Prince Wilhelm of Prussia (himself the son of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany and of his wife, née Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenbrg-Schwerin) and of his wife, née Dorothea von Salviati. She was married firstly from 1958 to 1972 to Dinnies von der Osten, and since 1972 to Jörg von Nostitz-Wallwitz. She is survived by a son and three daughters, one son having predeceased her.] (added 4 Aug 2009)

 

Princess Magdalene of Prussie, née Princess Reuss, died on 10 October.

 

[She was born at Leipzig on 20 August 1920, daughter of Prince Heinrich XXXVI Reuss and of his wife, née Princess Hermine von Schönburg-Waldenburg. In 1943 she married Prince Hubertus of Prussia (1909-1950), son of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Prussia and of his wife, née Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. She is survived by her daughter, Princess Anastasia, Fürstin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg. Another daughter predeceased her.] (added 12 Oct 2009)

Prince Christian zu Schaumburg-Lippe (son of Prince Wilhelm zu Schaumburg-Lippe and of his wife, née Ilona Freiin Hentschel von Gilgenheimb) married Lena Giese at Schloß Glücksburg on 25 July. (added 4 Sep 2009)

 

 

SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN

 

Princess Barbara Beata of Schleswig-Holstein, née Fertsch (wife since 1994 of Prince Alexander of Schleswig-Holstein [himself the son of Peter, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein, and of his wife, née Princess Marie Alix zu Schaumburg-Lippe]), died on 28 April. She is survived by her husband and by a daughter and a son. (added 7 May 2009)

 

 

SPAIN

 

Marc Saint Orleans-Borbon (son of Gerarda Orleans Borbon [herself the daughter of Don Alvaro Antonio Carlos Felipe Fernando de Orléans, Duque de Galliera, and of his wife, née Carla Parodi de Delfino] and of Harry Saint) married secondly Amparo Barón Fernández de Córdoba (b.Seville 4 December 1968, daughter of Ignacio Barón Rojas-Marcos and of Amparo Fernández de Córdoba Ybarra). The wedding took place in Seville on May 22, 2009. The bride is a cousin of the groom's brother-in-law, Nicolas de Haro y Fernández de Córdoba (married to Carla Saint Orleans, Marc's sister).
