Archduke Martin of Austria (son of Archduke Robert of Austria-Este and of his wife, Princess Margherita of Savoy) and his wife, née Princess Katharina zu Isenburg  (daughter of Franz Alexander Fürst zu Isenburg and of his wife, née Christine Gräfin von Saurma, Freiin von und zu der Jeltsch) had their second child, Emmanuel Achatius Franz Alexander, at Pavia on 15 February. Archduke Raimund (Ramón) of Austria died on 24 April.

Comte Rodolphe de Limburg-Stirum (b.Uccle 20 March 1979, son of Comte Christian de Limburg-Stirum and of his wife, née Comtesse Colienne d'Oultremont) married Archduchess Marie-Christine of Austria (b.Brussels 31 July 1983, daughter of Archduke Carl Christian of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Marie-Astrid of Luxembourg) at Mechelen (Malines) on 6 December. Alexander Erba Odescalchi Principe di Monteleone, né Alexander Cech, formerly husband of Archduchess Margarethe of Austria (1925-1979), died at Stockholm on 30 June. (added 15 Jul 2008)

Antonio Tasso de Saxe-Coburgo e Braganca (son of Carl-Eduard Tasso de Saxe-Coburgo e Braganca [himself the son of Lamoral Freiherr Taxis di Bordogna e Valnigra and of his wife, Princess Theresia of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha] and of his wife, née Archduchess Walburga of Austria [herself the daughter of Archduke Georg of Austria and of his wife, née Marie Valerie Gräfin von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg]) and his wife, née Gabrielle Tardieu de Maleissye-Melun (daughter of Comte Jean Tardieu de Maleissye-Melun and of his wife, née Marie-Françoise de Gouvello de Keriaval [herself the daughter of Renaud, Marquis de Gouvello de Keriaval and of his wife, née Princess Béatrix de Merode]) had their second child, Pedro, on 2 July. Prince Christoph von Altenburg died in Australia in August.

Prince Ludwig of Bavaria died on 17 October.

 

[He was born at Nymphenburg on 22 June 1913, son of Prince Franz of Bavaria and of his wife, née Princess Isabella von Croy. In 1950 he married his cousin, Princess Irmingard of Bavaria (daughter of Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria and of his second wife, Princess Antonia of Luxemburg). Crown Prince Philippe of Belgium (elder son of King Albert of the Belgians and of Queen Paola) and his wife, née Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz, had their fourth, Eléonore Fabiola Victoria Anna Marie, at Anderlecht on 16 April. (updated 17 Apr 2008)

 

Paul Druker (first husband of Princess Marie-Christine of Belgium [daughter of King Léopold III of the Belgians and of his second wife, née Mary Lilian Baels, later Princess de Rethy]) died on 1 April. (added 9 Apr 2008)

Dom Eudes de Orléans e Bragança Filho (son of Dom Edues de Orléans e Bragança (b.1939) and of his second wife, née Mercedes Neves da Rocha) married Patrícia Annechino Landau at Rio de Janeiro on 15 March. (added 14 Mar 2008)

Nuno de Carvalho Moreira and his wife, née Princess Maria Carolina of Orleans-Braganza, had their first child, Joaquim Pedro, at São Paulo on 13 April. (added 26 Jul 2008)

Mikael Rosanes and his wife, née Countess Camilla af Rosenborg (daughter of Count Christian af Rosenborg [born Prince of Denmark, son of Prince Knud of Denmark, younger brother of King Frederik IX] and of his wife, née Anne-Dorthe Maltoft-Nielsen) had their fourth child, Theodor, on 19 June. Prince Charles Philippe d’Orléans (son of Prince Michel d’Orléans, Comte d’Evreux, and of his wife, née Béatrice de Pasquier de Franclieu) marriedd Diana Alvares Pereira de Melo, Duquesa de Cadaval (daughter of Jaime Alvares Pereira de Melo, Duque de Cadaval, and of his second wife, née Claudine Tritz) at Evora on 21 June. Alexandre de Sambucy de Sorgue (son of François-Xavier de Sambucy de Sorgue and of his wife, Princess Jeanne-Chantal d'Orléans) and his wife, née Anne-Cécile Berteau, had their first child, Côme, at Paris on 21 September. (added 4 Nov 2008)

Antoine Stevenson and his wife, née Kildine de Sambucy de Sorgue (daughter of François-Xavier de Sambucy de Sorgue and of his wife, Princess Jeanne-Chantal d'Orléans) reportedly had their second child, Sarah, on 13 November. (added 15 Nov 2008)

Prince Aimone of Savoy, Duca di Apulia (son of Prince Amedeo of Savoy, Duca di Aosta, and of first his wife, née Princess Claude d'Orléans) and Princess Olga of Greece (daughter of Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark and of his wife, née Marina Karella) have married civilly in Moscow on 16 September, followed by a religious ceremony on Patmos on 27 September. Princess Teresa zu Fürstenberg, née Princess zur Lippe, died on 16 July.

 

[She was born at Vienna on 21 July 1925, daughter of Prince Alfred zur Lippe and of his wife, née Franziska Gräfin von Schönborn. She was married firstly from 1946 to 1954 to Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza (1921-2002). She married secondly in 1960 Prince Friedrich Maximilian zu Fürstenberg (1926-1969). Sieglinde Heldman, née Princess Sieglinde zur Lippe, died at Detmold on 8 August.

 

[She was born at Detmold on 4 March 1915, daughter of Leopold IV Fürst zur Lippe and of his first wife, née Princess Bertha of Hesse-Philippsthal-Barchfeld. In 1942 she married Friedrich Heldman (1904-1977). She is survived by their here children and seven grandchildren.] (added 21 Dec 2008)

Prince Boris of Montenegro (son of Prince Nikola of Montenegro) and his wife, née Véronique Canas da Silva had a daughter, Milena, born at Les Lilas on 11 February. (added 13 Feb 2008)

 

Crown Princess Francine of Montenegro, née Navarro, died at Paris on 6 August.

 

[She was born at Casablanca on 27 January 1950, daughter of Antoine Navarro and of Rachel Wazana.  Since 1976 she had been married to Crown Prince Nikola of Montenegro, son of King Michael of Montenegro and of his wife, née Geneviève Prigent. Prince Bernhard van Oranje-Nassau, van Vollenhoven (second son of Pieter van Vollenhoven and of his wife, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands) and his wife, née Annette Sekrève, had their third child, Benjamin Pieter Floris, at Amsterdam on 12 March. (updated 13 Mar 2008)

Prince Pieter Christiaan of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven (son of Pieter van Vollenhoven and of his wife, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands) and his wife, née Anita Theodora van Eijk (second daughter of L.A. van Eijk and of Mrs J.C.M. van Eijk-Steens), had their second child, Pieter, on 19 November. Princess Margarita of Bourbon-Parma, Contessa di Colorno (daughter of Prince Carlos Hugo of Bourbon-Parma and of his former wife, Princess Irene of the Netherlands), married Tjalling ten Cate at Maarsbergen on 3 May. Alexander James Amherst Burnett of Leys (b.1973, elder son of James Comyn Amherst Burnett of Leys and of his wife, née Fiona Mercedes Phillips [herself the daughter of Harold Phillips and of his wife, née Georgina Wernher (herself the daughter of Sir Harold Wernher, Bt., and of his wife, Countess Anastasia de Torby [herself the daughter of Grand Duke Michael Mikhailovich of Russia and of his wife, Sophia Gräfin von Merenberg, Countess de Torby])]) and his wife, née Lavinia Margaret Cox, had their second child, Thomas Henry Amherst, on 11 February. Prince Michael Andreivich Romanov (b.Versailles 15 November 1920, son of Prince Andrew Alexandrovich of Russia and of his first wife, née Donna Elisabetha Ruffo) died in Australia on 21 September. He had been married in 1953 to Esther Murphy, and then in 1954 to Shirley Crammond (1916-1983), and finally in 1993 to Giulia Gemma Crespi. (added 23 Sep 2008)

 

Prince Michael Feodorovich Romanov (b.Paris 4 May 1924, son of Prince Feodor Alexandrovich of Russia and of his wife, née Princess Irina Paley) died at Paris on 22 September. He had been married from 1958 to 1992 to Helga Staufenberger. Since 1994 he had been married to Maria de las Mercedes Ustrell-Cabani. He had one son, Michael (1959-2001) from his first marriage. This son had a daughter, Tatiana, with Maria de las Mercedes Ustrell-Cabani, who subsequently became his stepmother. Prince Michael, senior, subsequently adopted Tatiana. (added 25 Sep 2008)

 

 

SAXE-COBURG-GOTHA

 

Carlo Felice Nicolis dei conti di Robilant died in Aubonne (France) on 13 October. He was born in Venice on 11 July 1927, son of Andrea Nicolis dei conti di Robilant (1899-1977) and of Nobile Gabriella de' Bosdari (1900-1999). He married in 1949 Marie Amelie de Heller (b.1926), daughter of Baron Eduard de Heller and of Princess Clementine of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. He leaves three sons. (added 2 Dec 2008)

Prince Konstantin zu Schaumburg-Lippe died on16 April.

 

He was born at Hagenburg on 22 December 1930, son of Wolrad Fürst zu Schaumburg-Lippe and of his wife, née Princess Bathildis su Schaumburg-Lippe. In 1956 he married Sigrid Knape (1929-1997). Since 1998 he had been maried to Petra Maass. He is survived by his three children and a grandson.] (added 20 Apr 2008)

 

Alexander Fürst zu Schaumburg-Lippe and his wife, Nadja Anna Zsoeks, had their first child together, Felipa, at Munich on 1 December. (updated 2 Dec 2008)

Prince Waldemar zu Schaumburg-Lippe (son of Prince Christian zu Schaumburg-Lippe and of his wife, Princess Feodora of Denmark) married as his fourth wife Gertraud Antonia Wagner-Schöppl on 20 September. (added 23 Sep 2008)

 

Dagmar Heine, née Prinesss zu Schaumburg-Lippe, died on 24 December.

 

[She was born at Berlin-Wilmersdorf on 18 February 1934, daughter of Prince Heinrich zu Schaumburg-Lippe and of his wife, née Marie-Erika Gfn von Hardenberg. In 1956 she married Christoph Kalau vom Hofe (1931-1981). In 1989 she married, secondly, Heinz Heine (1907-1991). She is survived by her children from the first marriage. Count Sonja Bernadotte af Wisborg died at Schloß Mainau on 21 October.
[She was born on 7 May 1944 and in 1972 married Count Lennart Bernadotte, né Prince Lennart of Sweden (only child of Prince Vilhelm of Sweden (1884-1965) and of his wife, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia (1890-1958)). TWO SICILIES

 

Prince Ferdinando of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duca di Castro, died at the Centre hospitalier de la Dracénie, route de Montferrat, Draguignan (Var), France, on 20 March.

 

[He was born at Podzamcze on 28 May 1926, son of Prince Ranieri of Bourbon-Two Sicilies and of his wife, née Countess Karoline Zamoyska. In 1949 he married Chantal de Chevron-Villette (1925-2005). He is survived by their three children. He was one of the two rival claimants to be head of the royal house of the Two Sicilies. His claimis inherited by his son, Charles.] (added 22 Mar 2008)
