Patrice Vergé died at Vernon on 29 March.

[He was born at Paris on 20 June 1926, son of Emmanuel Vergé and of his wife, née Thérèse Dufour. Since 1957 he had been married to Isabelle Suchet d’Albufèra (daughter of Louis Suchet, 5th Duc d’Albufèra, and of his wife, née Simone de Chevigné). Contessa Gennaro Martini Carissimo di Castel d’Oria, née Donna Maria Teresa dei principi Antici-Mattei, died at her castle in Oria, near Brindisi, on 5 July.

[She was born in Rome on 29 March 1929, daughter of Principe e Marchese Don Guido Antici-Mattei, Duca di Giove (1889-1960) and of Countess Julia Nemés de Hidveg (1894-1992). She married in 1953 Conte Gennaro Martini Carissimo di Castel d'Oria (1926-2001). They had four daughters, three of whom survived her.] (added 20 Jul 2007)

Lady Jeanne Louise Campbell died on 4 June.

[She was born on 10 December 1928, daughter of Ian Douglas Campbell, 11th Duke of Argyll, and of his first wife, née Hon. Janet Gladys Aitken. From 1962 to 1963 she had been married to Norman Mailer, the writer, who himself died on 10 November 2007, as the second of his six wives. In 1964 she married John Sergeant Cram. Prince Mihai-Gheorghe-Stefan Bassaraba de Brancovan (b.Bucharest 17 Feb 1948, son of Prince Petru Constantin Dimitrie Bassaraba de Brancovan (Bucharest 8 Apr 1920-London 18 Nov 1983) and of his wife, née Princess Marina Stirbey (Vienna 19 Mar 1912-Bouloc 15 Jul 2001)) married Laetitia Le Guay (b.10 Mar 1965, daughter of Christian Le Guay [of the barons Le Guay] and of his wife, née Isabelle Tannery) in a civil ceremony on 27 July in Paris. The religious ceremony will follow. They are already the parents of Iseut Marie Mathilde (b.Paris 18 Mar 2005) and of Marie Emilie Valentine (b.Paris 27 Dec 2006). (added 13 Aug 2007)

Mrs David Hastings Gerald Russell, née Hester Clere Parsons, died at Hastings on 16 March.

In 1940 she married David Hastings Gerald Russell (1915-1999), son of Hon.Sir Odo William Theophilus Villiers Russell (of the Lortds Ampthill and Dukes of Bedford) and of his wife, née Marie Luise Gräfin Rex. Gottfried Graf von Bismarck-Schönhausen (son of Ferdinand Fürst von Bismarck and of his wife, née Elisabeth Lippens) died in London around the 1st of July. (added 5 Jul 2007)

Heinrich Graf von Einsiedel died at Munich on 18 July.

[He was born at Potsdam on 26 July 1921, son of Herbert Graf von Einsiedel (himself the son of Johann Georg Graf von Einsiedel and of his wife, née Frieda Gräfin von Westarp) and of his first wife, née Irene Gräfin von Bismarck-Schönhausen (herself the daughter of Wilhelm Otto Albrecht Graf von Bismarck-Schönhausen and of his wife, née Sibylle von Arnim). Donna Laetitia Boncompagni-Ludovisi dei principi di Piombino, Principessa di Venosa, née dei conti Pecci-Blunt, died in Rome on 11 June.

[She was born in Paris on 6 May 1920, daughter of Count Cecil Carlo Blunt (d.1965) and of Anna Laetitia dei conti Pecci (d.1971). She married in 1941 Principe Don Alberico Boncompagni-Ludovisi dei principi di Piombino, Principe di Venosa (1918-2005). They divorced in 1982. She is survived by an only daughter, Donna Francesca (b.1942), married to Marchese Piero Antinori.] (added 20 Jul 2007)

George William Owen Tapps-Gervis-Meyrick (b.1970, son and heir of Sir George Christopher Cadfael Tapps-Gervis-Meyrick, 7th Bt, and of his wife, née Jean Louise Montagu Douglas Scott [herself the daughter of Lord William Montagu-Douglas-Scott, of the Dukes of Buccleuch and Queensberry, and of his wife, née Lady Rachel Douglas-Home]) and his wife, née Candida Clark (daughter of Mr Alan Sharpe and Mrs Cassandra Clark) had their first child, a daughter, on 2 August. Walter Francis John Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 9th Duke of Buccleuch & Queensberry, died on 4 September.

[He was born at London on 28 September 1923, son of Walter, 8th Duke of Buccleuch & Queensberry (1894-1973) and of his wife, née Vreda Esther Mary Lascelles (1900-1993). Hon. Mrs Walter Arnold Crispian Keppel, née Aline Lucy Harington, died on 20 April.

[She was born on 27 February 1918, daughter of John Harington (himself the son of Sir Richard Harington, 11th Bt.) and of his wife, née Lady Frances Aline Temple-Gore-Langton (herself the daughter of William Stephen Temple-Gore-Langton, 4th Earl Temple of Stowe [himself the son of William Henry Powell Gore-Langton and of his wife, née Lady Anna Eliza Temple-Nugent-Brydges-Chandos-Grenville (of the Dukes of Buckingham and Chandos)], and of his wife, née Helen Mabel Graham-Montgomery). In 1941 she married Hon. Walter Arnold Crispian Keppel (1914-1986), son of Walter Egerton George Lucian Keppel, 9th Earl of Albemarle, and of his first wife, née Lady Judith Wynn-Carrington. Don Franco, Duca Caffarelli, died in Rome on 16 April.

[He was born in 1922, son of Duca Don Giuseppe Caffarelli (1890-1998) and of Donna Maria Clementina Carrega Bartolini dei principi di Lucedio (1889-1978). He was unmarried and after his death, the new Duca Caffarelli is Don Franco's brother, Don Pier-Parenzo (b.1924).] (added 24 May 2007)

Barone Gian Luigi Vismara Currò died in Rome on 5 September.

Don Ottino Caracciolo dei Principi di Forino died in Porto Ercole, South Tuscany, on 31 October.

[He was born in Rome on 11 December 1917, son of Don Mario Caracciolo dei principi di Forino (1875-1967) and of Lilian Eaton (1877-1970) and married in 1942 Christina dei baroni Nisco (b.1922). He is survived by her and three daughters.] (added 6 Dec 2007)

Donna Leopoldina Caracciolo dei principi di Castagneto died in Rome on 6 October.

[She was born in Brussels on 23 June 1912, daughter of Don Gaetano Caracciolo, 6th Principe di Castagneto (1879-1923) and of Emilia dei baroni Barracco (1891-1928). She married in Naples in 1933 Marchese Luigi Santasilia di Torpino (1907-1983). She is survived by one son,Francesco, and by one daughter, Emilia, married to Count Don Gianluigi Tosti dei duchi di Valminuta.[ (added 6 Dec 2007)

[He was born in 1924, son of Don Ulderico, Principe di Carpegna Falconieri Gabrielli (1872-1954) and of Donna Anna Giusso dei duchi del Galdo (1891-1973). He married in 1964 Donna Isabella dei principi Massimo dei principi di Arsoli (herself daughter of Principe Don Leone Massimo, Principe di Arsoli e Duca di Anticoli Corrado and of Principessa Maria Adelaide di Savoia-Genova).
