ARENBERG

Marie-Thérèse, Duchesse d'Arenberg, née de La Poëze d'Harambure, died at Punta del Este, Uruguay, on 19 April.
[She was born at Dijon on 5 June 1911, daughter of Jean Marie Auguste de La Poëze d'Harambure (himself the son of Gabriel de La Poëze d'Harambure and of his wife, née Théodora Ruyneau de Saint-George) and of his wife, née Marie Magdeleine Caroline Le Gouz de Saint-Seine (herself the daughter of Raoul Le Gouz de Saint-Seine and of his wife, née Pauline de Brosses). She married firstly, in 1934, Guillaume Noël Maurice Le Verdier (son of Georges Le Verdier and of his wife, née Marie-Thérèse Lainé-Condé). He died later the same year. She maried secondly, in 1940, Henri de Belsunce (son of Louis de Belsunce and of his wife, née Valentine de Roquefeuil et du Bousquet). He was killed in action in 1944. She married thirdly, in 1949, Erik Engelbert, Prince and Duc d'Arenberg, who in 1974 succeeded his brother as Duc d'Arenberg. He died in 1992. He had adopted her two children from her second marriage: Laeticia de Belsunce-d'Arenberg, who married and divorced Archduke Leopold Franz of Austria, and had two sons, Archduke Sigismund, the present head of the Royal House of Tuscany, and Archduke Guntram; and Rodrigue de Belsunce d'Arenberg.] (added 24 Apr 2005)

Prince Charles-Louis d'Arenberg (b.1949, son of Prince Armand-Louis Hélie d'Arenberg and of his wife, née Gabrielle Marie de Lambertye-Gerbéviller) married Diane d'Harcourt (b.1954, daughter of Vicomte Amury d'Harcourt and of his first wife, née Françoise Hutteau d'Origny) at Paris on 24 June. Philipp-Franz Frhr von und zu Guttenberg (son of Georg-Enoch Frhr von und zu Guttenberg [himself the son of Karl Theodor Frhr von und zu Guttenberg and of his wife, née Princess Rose-Sophie von Arenberg] and of his first wife, Christiane Henkell-von Ribbentrop, née Grafin von und zu Eltz) and his wife, née Hon Alexandra Louise Macdonald (daughter of Godfrey James Macdonald of Macdonald, 8th Lord Macdonald of Slate, and of his wife, née Claire Catlow), had their second child, Felix, born in Austria on 14 October. Arnold Graf von Keyserling died at Matrei am Brenner on 7 September.

Prince Maximilian zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg (fourth son of Moritz-Casimir Fürst zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg and of his wife, née Huberta Gräfin von Hardenberg) and his wife, née Marissa Clara Fortescue, had their second child, Louise Helena Agnes Delia, on 22 April. (added 24 Mar 2005)

Comte Jean-Philippe de La Tour du Pin (son of Comte Olivier de La Tour du Pin [himself the son of Comte Aymar de La Tour du Pin and of his wife, née Princess Maximilienne de Croy] and of his wife, née Catherine de Guigné) and his wife, née Pascale Gaillard, had their first child, Pierre, at Paris on 13 January. Comte Adrien d'Oultremont died at Opheylissem on 26 April.
[He was born at Guines on 10 December 1918, son of Comte Albert d'Oultremont and of his wife, née Marguerite van de Werve d'Immerseel. In 1948 he married Comtesse Marie Blanche du Chastel de la Howarderie (daughter of Comte Ferdinand du Chastel de la Howarderie [himself the son of Comte Adolphe du Chastel de la Howarderie and of his wife, née Princess Marie Josèphe de Croy] and of his wife, née Blanche de Coetnempren de Kersaint). Hans Clarin, the actor, died on 28 August.

Verena Helena Anna Freda Gräfin von Bassewitz, née von Bethmann-Hollweg, died on 18 July.

In 1930 she married Albrecht Graf von Bassewitz (1903-1991), son of Gerd Heinrich Karl Friedrich Graf von Bassewitz and of his wife, née Viktoria Freiin von Beaulieu-Marconnay. Princess Xenia zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg (b.1972, daughter of Kraft Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg and of first his wife, née Princess Charlotte von Croy) married Max Soltmann in a civil wedding at Obertaufkirchen on 13 August. Karl-Albrecht Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst died at a hospital in Bad Mergentheim on 23 October.
[He was born at Vienna on 30 April 1926, son of Franz Josef Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (1894-1970) and of his wife, née Princess Aglaë von Schönburg-Hartenstein (1891-1965). In 1965 he married Ladislaja Gräfin von Meran (daughter of Franz Graf von Meran and of his wife, née Princess Wilhelmine von Auersperg). In 1946 she married Alois Fürst zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Spielberg (1920-1975), son of Otto Fürst zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Spielberg and of his wife, née Gabriele Gräfin von Rechberg und Rothenlöwen zu Hohenrechberg. They had five children: Franziska Fürstin zu Hohenlohe-Bartenstein (b.1947); Alexandra Fürstin Fugger von Babenhausen (b.1948); Albrecht Fürst zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Spielberg (b.1951); Pss Gabriele zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Spielberg, Frau Gollwitzer (b.1953); and Margarita, Princess Franz von Lobkowicz (1957-2000).] (added 20 Jun 2005)

Lambros James Milona and his wife, née Princess Lilly zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (daughter of Prince Otto-Ludwig zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and of his wife, née Annette Freiin von Cramm, and former wife of Alexander Erbprinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe) had their first child together, Lana, at Munich on 2 August. Marguerite Fürstin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, née Fouché d'Otrante, died on 25 August.
[She was born at Elghammar, Sweden, on 28 March 1909, daughter of Charles Fouché, Duc d'Otrante (himself the son of Gustave Fouché, Duc d'Otrante, and of his second wife, née Therese Freiin von Stedingk), and of his wife, née Countess Madeleine Douglas (herself the daughter of Count Ludwig Douglas and of his wife, née Countess Anna Ehrensvärd). In 1934 she married Gustav Albrecht Fürst zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (b.1907, son of Richard Fürst zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and of his wife, née Princess Madeleine zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg), who went missing in action in Russia in 1944. She is survived by their children: Richard Fürst zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (who is married to Princess Benedikte of Denmark; Princess Madeleine (married to Otto Graf zu Solms-Laubach); Prince Robin; Princess Tatiana (formerly married to Prince Moritz of Hesse); and Princess Pia.] (added 27 Aug 2005)

Vera Freifrau von Herman auf Wain died on 24 September.
[She was born at Frankfurt-am-Main on 20 December 1913, daughter of Joachim von Manteuffel and of his wife, née Martha Mumm von Schwarzenstein. In 1936 she married Beno-Richard Freiherr von Herman auf Wain (1905-1974), son of Beno Freiherr von Herman auf Wain and of his wife, née Princess Hilda zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. Alexander Graf und Herr von Schönburg-Glauchau (son of Joachim Graf und Herr von Schönburg-Glauchau and of his first wife, née Beatrix Gräfin Széchényi de Sárvar et Felsövidék) and his wife, née Princess Irina of Hesse (daughter of Prince Karl of Hesse and of his wife, née Yvonne Gräfin Szápáry de Muraszombath, Széchysziget et Szapár) had their third child, Valentin Polykarp Josef Maria, at Berlin on 23 February. SCHÖNBURG-HARTENSTEIN

It had been announced that Anne-Victoire de Rougé (b.Chartres 4 July 1981, fourth child of the Count Bertrand de Rougé and the Countess Marie, née Countess de Maigret) would marry Prince Alexander von Schönburg-Hartenstein (b.Vienna 2 Aug 1979, son of the Prince Alfred von Schönburg-Hartenstein and of the Princess Marie-Thérèse, née Kastner-Lanjus-Wellenburg) on Friday, 26 August, at Notre Dame de Chartres. However, the, shortly before the ceremony was to take place, it was called off, at least temporarily. (updated 3 Sep 2005)

In 1955 she married Germanus Lins. He is not mentioned in the obituary so probably predeceased her. In 1933 she married Comte Pierre d'Alcantara di Quirrieu (1907-1944). In 1945 she married Karl-Axel Björklund (1906-1986).
