Archduke Nicolaus of Austria (b.1973, son of Archduke Joseph of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Marie zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg) and his wife, née Eugenia de Calonje Gurrea, had their second child, Sofia, at Portland Hospital, London, on 2 January. (added 17 Jan 2005)

Joachim Krist died on 15 Jaunary.

Pierre-Emmanuel Derriks and his wife, née Domitella dei Baroni Manno (daughter of Barone Vittorio Manno and of his wife, Archduchess Alice of Austria [herself the daughter of the late Archduke Gottfried, head of the Royal House of Tuscany]) had their fourth child, Corentin, on 16 March. It was announced that Constantin Oktavian Graf von Habsburg-Lothringen (son of Christoph Graf von Habsburg-Lothringen [whose paternal grandfather was Archduke Heinrich Ferdinand of Austria-Tuscany] and of his wife, née Ebba von Mohrenschildt) will marry Maria-Antonia Gall (daughter of Franz Gall and of his wife, née Maria-Helena Wied) at St.Andrä, Carinthia, on 7 May. Reinhart Heinrich Hubertus Maria Graf von und zu Hoensbroech died on 8 June.
[He was born at Kellenberg on 15 October 1926, son of Franz Lothar Antonius Wilhelm Maria Graf von und zu Hoensbroech and of his first wife, née Helene Freiin von Loë. In 1959 he married Archduchess Maria-Immaculata of Austria (daughter of Archduke Theodor Salvator of Austria and of his wife, née Maria Theresa Gräfin von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg). Archduke Maximilian of Austria (b.1961, son of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria and of his wife, née Helene Gräfin zu Toerring-Jettenbach) married the writer Maya Askari (daughter of Mamoun Askari, of Iraqui ancestry) at saint Esteban de los Abisinios Church in Rome, near Vaticano, on 2 July. Alessandro Pavone (son of Giovanni Carlo Pavone and of his wife, née Carla Boniolo) and his wife, née Leopoldina Tasso de Saxe-Coburgo e Bragança (daughter of Carl-Eduard Tasso de Saxe-Coburgo e Braganca [himself the son of Lamoral Freiherr Taxis di Bordogna e Valnigra and of his wife, Princess Theresia of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha] and of his wife, née Archduchess Walburga of Austria [herself the daughter of Archduke Georg of Austria and of his wife, née Marie Valerie Gräfin von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg]) had a daughter, Eugenia Carolina, who was born and died on 20 June. Elisabeth Küstner, Gräfin von Kageneck, Princess of Bavaria, died on 3 March.
[She was born at Munich on 10 October 1913, only daughter of Prinz Alfons von Bayern (1862-1933) and of his wife, Princess Louise d'Orléans (1869-1952). In 1939 she married Franz Joseph Graf von Kageneck (1915-1941). In 1944 she married Ernst Küstner; they divorced in 1953. Prince Manuel of Bavaria (son of Prince Leopold of Bavaria and of his wife, née Ursula Möhlenkamp) married Princess Anna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (daughter of Prince Ludwig-Ferdinand zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and of his wife, née Countess Yvonne Wachtmeister af Johannishus) at Stigtomta Kyrka in Nyköpings kommun, Södermanlands län, Sweden, on 6 August. Doña Sofía F. Arquer, née Sofia Fugarolas y Aris, died on 1 August.
[She was born at Barcelona on 13 October 1941, daughter of José Fugarolas y de Arquer and of Sofia Aris y de Moysi. In 1966 she married Don Fernando de Baviera y Mesia (son of Don José Eugenio de Baviera, Infant of Spain, born Prince of Bavaria, and of his wife, née Marisol de Mesia y Lesseps). They separated in the 1970s. She is survived by her daughter, Cristina de Baviera y Fugarolas.] (added 6 Jun 2005)

Klaus Fischer-Stabauer and his wife, née Marie Bernadette Gräfin Kornis von Göncz-Ruszka (daughter of Thomas Graf Kornis von Göncz-Ruszka and of his wife, née Princess Maria-Theresia of Bavaria [herself the daughter of Prince Rasso of Bavaria and of his wife, Archduchess Theresia of Austria]) had their first child in late July or early August. BELGIUM

Crown Prince Philippe of Belgium (elder son of King Albert of the Belgians and of Queen Paola) and his wife, née Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz, had their third child, Emmanuel Léopold Guillaume François Marie, on 4 October. (updated 9 Oct 2005)

Prince Laurent of Belgium (younger son of King Albert II of the Belgians) and his wife, née Claire Coombs, had twin sons, Nicolas Casimir Marie and Aymeric Auguste Marie, their second and third children, at Cliniques Universaitaires Saint Luc de Bruxelles on 13 December. (updated 15 Dec 2005)
 

BRAZIL

According to a correspondent, Dom Pedro Tiago de Orléans e Bragança (elder son of Prince Dom Pedro Carlos de Orléans e Bragança) was reported to be engaged to marry Patrícia Lima on 28th January, 2005, in Rio de Janeiro. However, another correspondent subsequently told me that the Brazilian press has now reported that the couple has now separated, and did not marry. Mr. Wilschut, in his Gotha Nieuwtjes, says that they did marry on 28 January.  (updated 17 Jan 2006)

Maria Francisca de Orléans e Bragança (daughter of Prince Eudes of Orléans-Bragança and of his second wife, née Mercedes Neves da Rocha) married Bernardo Ratto (son of Gianni Ratto and of Kati Almeida Braga) at Rio de Janeiro on 7 May. (updated 11 May 2005)

Dom João, Prince de Orléans-Bragança, died at Rio de Janeiro on 26 June.
[He was born at Boulogne-sur-Seine on 15 October 1916, son of Prince Pedro of Orléans-Bragança (himself the son of Prince Gaston d'Orléans, Comte d'Eu, and of his wife, the Princess Imperial Isabel of Brazil) and of his wife, née Elisabeth Gräfin Dobrzensky von Dobrzenicz. From 1949 to 1971 he was married to Fátima Scherifa Chirine. Since 1990 he had been married to Tereza de Jesus Cesar Leite. Nuno de Carvalho Moreira (son of César [Faria?] Domingues Moreira, Brazilian Ambassador to Norway, and of his wife, née Maria Guadalupe de Carvalho) married Princess Maria Carolina de Orléans-Bragança (daughter of Prince Dom Pedro de Orléans-Bragança [himself the son of Prince Dom Pedro Henrique de Orléans-Bragança and of his wife, née Princess Maria of Bavaria] and of his wife, née Maria de Fatima Lacerda Rocha) at Capela da Imperial Irmandade do Outeiro da Glória, Rio de Janeiro, on 2 December. Doña Esperanza de Borbón, Princess of Orléans-Braganza, née Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, died at Villamanrique de la Condesa on 8 August.
[She was born at Madrid on 14 June 1914, daughter of Prince Carlo of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Infant of Spain, and of his second wife, née Princess Louise d'Orléans. In 1944 she married Dom Pedro Gastão, Prince of Orléans-Braganza, who survives her, along with their six children.] (added 9 Aug 2005)
 

DENMARK

Mikael Rosanes and his wife, née Countess Camilla af Rosenborg (daughter of Count Christian af Rosenborg [born Prince of Denmark, son of Prince Knud of Denmark, younger brother of King Frederik IX] and of his wife, née Anne-Dorthe Maltoft-Nielsen) had their third child, Leopold, at Gentofte on 15 April. Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and of her husband, Prince Henrik [born Henri de Laborde de Monpezat]) and his wife, née Mary Donaldson (daughter of Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson and his first wife Henrietta Clark) had their first child,a son, born at Copenhagen on 15 October. Olga Bonaparte-Wyse, née Clive-Rollawson, died at Totnes on 4 September.
[She was born in 1914, and in 1947 married, as his second wife, William Lucien Bonaparte-Wyse (son of Andrew Bonaparte-Wyse [himself the son of William Charles Bonaparte-Wyse (himself the son of Sir Thomas Wyse and of his wife, Princess Laetitia Bonaparte) and of his wife, née Ellen Linzee Prout] and of his wife, née Maria Dmitrievna Chipounov), who predeceased her. FRANCE (BOURBON)

It was announced in some sources that Luis Alfonso de Borbón y Martinez-Bordiu, Duc d'Anjou (son of Alfonso de Borbón, Duque de Cádiz, Duc d'Anjou et de Bourbon, and of his wife, née Carmen Martinez-Bordiú y Franco, and the senior male member by primogeniture of the House of France) and his wife, née María Margarita Vargas Santaella (daughter of Víctor José de Vargas Irausquín and of his wife, née Carmen Leonor Santaella Tellerías) are expecting their first child. FRANCE (ORLÉANS)

Edouard Crépy and his wife, Princess Clothilde d'Orléans (daughter of Prince Michel d'Orléans, Comte d'Evreux, and of his wife, née Béatrice de Pasquier de Franclieu) had their fourth child, Augustin, on 25 May, reportedly at Miami, though earlier reports said at Santiago, Chile. Prince Charles-Louis d'Orléans, Duc de Chartres, (son of Prince Jacques, Duc d'Orléans, and of his wife, née Gersende de Sabran-Pontèves) and his wife, née Ileana Manos, had their fifth child, Isabelle, at Paris on 12 May. (added 9 Oct 2005)
 

GREAT BRITAIN and NORTHERN IRELAND

Prince Charles of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Prince of Wales (son of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Norhern Ireland and of her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, né Prince of Greece and Denmark) married Mrs Camilla Parker-Bowles, née Shand (daughter of Bruce Middleton Hope Shand and of his wife, née Hon. Rosalind Maud Cubitt), at Windsor on 9 April. It was announced that she will be known as Duchess of Cornwall. (updated 9 Apr 2005)
 

GREECE

Carlos Morales y Quintana and his wife, Princess Alexia of Greece (daughter of King Constantine II of the Hellenes and of his wife, Princess Anne Marie of Denmark), had their third child, Carlos, at Clinica Teknon, Barcelona, on 30 July. (updated 1 Aug 2005)
 

HOHENZOLLERN

Rosemargot Pfersdorf, née Princess von Hohenzollern, died on 16 February.
[She was born at Burg Namedy on 19 February 1930, daughter of Prince Albrecht von Hohenzollern (1898-1977) and of his wife, née Ilse Margot von Friedeburg (1901-1988). She married Edgar Pfersdorf (1920-1997) in 1955. They lived at Neuss, where she is to be buried. She is survived by their three sons and a daughter, and seven grandchildren. ITALY

The engagement was announced between Prince Aimone of Savoy, Duca di Apulia (son of Prince Amedeo of Savoy, Duca di Aosta, and of first his wife, née Princess Claude d'Orléans) and Princess Olga of Greece (daughter of Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark and of his wife, née Marina Karella). The wedding date has been variously reported as 1 and 8 October, and most recently has been reported to me as being set for 9 October on the Isle of Patmos, but is still unconfirmed. LIECHTENSTEIN

Prince Constantin of Liechtenstein (third son of reigning Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein and of his wife, née Marie Gräfin Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau) and his wife, née Maria Gräfin Kálnoky de Köröspatak, had their second child, Georgina Maximiliana Tatiana Maria, at Vienna on 23 July.(added 3 Aug 2005)

Richard Douglas Loftus Onslow died on 22 October.
[He was born in 1928, a son of Douglas Arthur George Onslow (1901-66) and of his wife, née Margaret Forbes Kilgour Rayner (d. 1985). He married firstly, 1966 (div 1968) Mrs Elizabeth Frances Bateman, née Elsworthy. He married secondly, in 1968, Ethel Elisabeth Olga Maria Gräfin von Rietberg (1928-1999), daughter of Prince Ferdinand of Liechtenstein and of his first wife, née Shelagh Brunner. Christopher Graf von Rietberg died at London on 15 November.

Prince Jan Andreas of Liechtenstein (son of Prince Hanno of Liechtenstein and of his wife, née Kerstin Lundberg) and his wife, née Lena Johansson, had their second child, Tyra Wiola Josefin Filippini, at Stockholm on 15 November. (updated 29 Nov 2005)

LUXEMBURG

Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte of Luxemburg, née Princess of Belgium, died at her home at Château Fischbach on 10 January.
[She was born at Brussels on 11 October 1927, daughter of King Léopold III of the Belgians and of Queen Astrid, née Princess of Sweden. In 1953 she married Hereditary Prince Jean of Luxemburg (b.1921, son of Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxemburg and of her husband, Prince Felix of Bourbon-Parma), who succeeded as Grand Duke on the abdication of his mother in 1964, and who reigned until his own abdication in 2000. MONACO

Prince Rainier III of Monaco died at Monaco on 6 April.
[He was born at Monaco on 31 May 1923, son of Prince Pierre de Polignac and of his wife, Princess Charlotte of Monaco, Duchesse de Valentinois (herself the daughter of Prince Louis II of Monaco and of Marie Juliette Louvet). He succeeded his grandfather as Prince of Monaco on the latter's death in 1949. In 1956 he married Grace Kelly, the American film star. She died in a car wreck in 1982. They had three children together: Albert, who succeeds him; Caroline, now Princess of Hannover; and Stephanie.] (added 6 Apr 2005)

Prince Johan Friso of Orange-Nassau, formerly Prince of the Netherlands (b.Utrecht 25 Sep 1968, second son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and of her husband, the late Prince Claue) and his wife, née Mabel Wisse Smit (b.Pijnacker 11 Aug 1968, daughter of Hendrik Cornelis Los and of his wife, née Florence Malde Gijsberdina Kooman [who remarried, as a widow, Peter Wisse Wisse Smit]) had their first child, Emma Luana Ninette Sophie, at London on 26 March. Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands (eldest son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and of her late husband, Prince Claus) and his wife, née Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti, had their second child, Alexia Juliana Marcela Laurentien, at Bronovo Hospital, The Hague, on 26 June. Prince Pieter Christiaan of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven (son of Pieter van Vollenhoven and of his wife, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands) married Anita Theodora van Eijk (b.Neuchâtel 27 October 1969, second daughter of L.A. van Eijk and of Mrs J.C.M. van Eijk-Steens) in a civil wedding ceremony at Apeldoorn on 25 August and a religious ceremony at Noordwijk on 27 August. Prince Floris of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven (son of Pieter van Vollenhoven and of his wife, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands) married Aimée Leonie Allegonde Marie Söhngen (b.Amsterdam 18 October 1977, eldest daughter of Mr J.H.M. Princess Marie Therese of Prussia died at Weinheim on 3 January.
[She was born at Berlin on 2 May 1911, daughter of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia (1880-1925) and of his wife, Princess Agathe zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst (1888-1960). [She was born at Köln on 24 February 1911, daughter of Carl Hermann Roderbourg abd of his wife, née Claude Lennox Miller. In 1933 she married Prince Max zu Schaumburg-Lippe (1898-1974), son of Prince Albrecht zu Schaumburg-Lippe and of his first wife, née Duchess Elsa of Württemberg. [She was born at London on 30 September 1911, daughter of Fernando Mesia y Fitzjames-Stuart (himself the son of José Mesia, Duque de Tamames [himself the son of José Mesia, Duque de Tamames, and of his wife, née Angela Gayoso], and of his wife, née Maria de Asuncion Fitzjames-Stuart y Portocarrero, Duquesa de Galisteo [herself the daughter of Jaime Luis Fitzjames-Stuart, Duque de Alba, etc., and of his wife, née Maria Francisca Portocarrera de Palafox y Kirkpatrick, Duquesa de Peñaranda]) and of his wife, née Marie-Solange de Lesseps (herself the daughter of Ferdinand de Lesseps and of his wife, née Louise-Hélène Autard de Bragard). In 1933 she married José Eugenio, Infant of Spain, né Prince of Bavaria (son of Ferdinand, Prince of Bavaria, Infant of Spain, and of his wife, née Maria Teresa, Infanta of Spain). He died in 1966. Delia Moreno y de Borbón (b.30 Aug 1972, daughter of Iñigo Moreno y Arteaga, Marques de Laula, and of his wife, Princess Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies) married Álvaro de Ledesma Sanchiz (b.20 Oct 1962, son of Enrique de Ledesma Zuloaga and of his wife, Maria del Pilar Sanchiz Nuñez-Robres, Condessa de Piedrabuena) at Colmenar Viejo, near Madrid, on 3 June. Princess Anna Cecilia of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (b.São Paulo 24 December 1971, daughter of Prince Casimir of Bourbon-Two Sicilies and of his wife, née Princess Maria Cristina of Savoy) married Comte Rodolphe de Vincens de Causans (b.Chesnay 22 January 1973, son of Comte René de Vincens de Causans and of his wife, née Laurence de Geoffre de Chabrignac) in a civil ceremony at Verchers-sur-Layon (Maine-et-Loire) on 18 August, and a religious ceremony at Turin on 19 September. Princess Chantal of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duchess of Castro, née de Chevron-Villette, died at Suresnes on 24 May.
[She was born at Le Cannet des Maures on 10 January 1925, daughter of Comte Pierre de Chevron-Villette and of his wife, née Marie de Colbert. In 1949 she married Prince Ferdinand of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro (son of Prince Ranieri of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, and of his wife, née Countess Caroline Zamoyska), one of the two claimants to the headship of the Royal House of the Two Sicilies. They had three children: Charles, called Duke of Calabria; Beatrice, formerly married to Charles, Prince Napoléon; and Anne. She is also survived by six grandchildren.] (added 28 May 2005)
