WARRIORS AMONG US

Steve Thomas scored in the second period in the preseason game Thursday night at the ACC against the Habs. He was on a line with Darcy Tucker and Matt Stajan. His physical condition is second to none and his work ethic is unmatched. The entire crowd was on their feet for him. What a warrior....

Steve Thomas was given a tryout spot on the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was also offered a tryout with Detroit but opted to stay in his Beloved Blue and White

Steve is now wearing #33. Did anyone notice at the Blue and White game that the shots on goal were 32 - 33? Just an observation..

Steve was signed by the Detroit Red Wings during the 2003-2004 season and pretty much picked up where he left off - the kind of guy you'd want on your bench. Steve was traded at the 2003 trade deadline to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. He has since flourished averaging a point a game. His leadership has been evident as the Ducks are in the Western Conference Finals for the first time EVER! Those of us who feel you will always be a Leaf (and there are a LOT of us!!) wish you well at the 2005 training camp.

For anyone unfamiliar with Steve Thomas's history with the NHL, here's a bit of info on my favourite Leaf

Steve Thomas was a mainstay with Team Canada at the World Championships during the 1990's.

Steve represented Canada at the tournament in 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1996.

At the 1992 tournament in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Steve led the team in scoring with four points!

At the 1996 tournament Steve was named Team Captain and scored five points in eight tournament games.

What a guy!!

How can we stand by and lose such a great guy.

Look at his list of awards!

SOME QUOTES FROM STEVE REGARDING HIS DEPARTURE FROM TORONTO

"My intention was never to leave," said Thomas. "I honestly felt I could retire as a Leaf and be a key member in their quest for a Stanley Cup."

Money was not an issue.

"I still have some great friends on that team," he said. "I wish them all the best."

"I hope some day the Leafs win the Stanley Cup."

Mats Sundin said "I know we're all going to miss him,"

These are some video clips I shot after the Leafs game 7 win over Ottawa
