At last!!!The new album's scheduled
for release on 11 June, here are the details :-)
Columbia Records signs Bowie to
multi-record deal
Wed Mar 27, 4:25 PM ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Columbia
Records Wednesday said it signed
rock icon David Bowie to a multi-record
deal through the artist's ISO
Records.
Terms were not disclosed.
Columbia said it will release "Heathen,"
Bowie's first studio album
in three years, June 11. The album
marks the artist's first studio
collaboration in more than two
decades with producer Tony Visconti,
who has worked with Bowie on numerous
albums throughout his career,
including the classic "Young Americans."
Bowie has been without a label contract
since last year when EMI
Group Plc (news - web sites) let
him go as part of its ongoing bid to
cut high costs associated with
veteran talent. EMI also recently
bought out Mariah Carey's contract
for $28 million.
Columbia is a unit of Sony Corp (news - web sites).
Following the release of "Heathen,"
Bowie is expected to perform at a
series of European and American
festivals this summer.

I'd like to turn your attention, though
with some delay (sorry for that) to Mr.Bowie's 55th birthday (08/01/47)
and I believe you'll join me in wishing him all the best,as well as to
keep on being the greatest of all!
And some more news:David's decided
not to re-sign with Virgin, choosing to establish his own independent label
(named ISO) instead. He said: " I've had one too many years of bumping heads
with corporate structure. Many times I've not been in agreement with how
things are done and as a writer of some proliferation, frustrated at how
slow and lumbering it all is. I've dreamed of embarking on my own set-up
for such a long time and now is the perfect opportunity."And also: " I
want to keep the whole experience at a human level, To characterize ISO
I think I would use guitarist Robert Fripp's phrase and describe it as
aiming to be 'a small, mobile, intelligent unit'."

believe you all share these feelings of mine as well as the relief that
David and his family are safe. But this cannot be said for over 4000 people.I'm
glad he took part in the second concert, dedicated to the victims and their
families, for what he showed was not only his support but our support, the
support of all his fans,as well.I shall finish this with my condolences
to all of you who have lost a beloved ones and my prayer for a world where
such tragedies don't exist anymore and for the present war to be over soon
and to be the last in the history of mankind.I hope you'll join my prayer.
