Welcome
to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the state agency
in Massachusetts that is responsible for overseeing the Commonwealths
workforce development system, for protecting the health and safety of
Massachusetts workers, for ensuring the efficient delivery of workers
compensation services, for supervision of the unemployment insurance program,
and for providing dispute resolution services in various arenas.
Our MISSION: To enhance the quality, diversity, and stability of
the commonwealth's workforce by making available new opportunities and
training for workers, job seekers, and employers, to prevent workplace
injuries and illnesses, to provide temporary assistance when employment
is interrupted, to ensure that businesses are informed of all employment
laws impacting them and their employees, and to promote labor-management
harmony.

of labor disputes by enforcing the Commonwealth's labor laws.

disputes by offering dispute resolution services to both public and
private sector employers and the labor organizations that represent
their employees.

municipalities in the Commonwealth.
