His Eminence Kyabje Garchen Triptrül Rinpoche founded the Drikung Mahayana Center in the year 2000 with a series of precious teachings and empowerments. In early 2001, the Center was honored to sponsor significant teachings by Traga Rinpoche, a heart disciple that Garchen Rinpoche invited from Tibet while Garchen Rinpoche was on extended overseas travel.

The Center provides an opportunity to generate an appreciation for one of the world’s great religions and cultures. While the Drikung Mahayana Center seeks to preserve those practices and insights that are specific to the Drikung Kagyu Lineage, because Garchen Rinpoche holds multiple lineages, this Center supports and sponsors teachings from other lineages. Rinpoche’s primary US center is located in Chino Valley, Arizona, and we are a sister organization located near the Nation’s Capital.

We are a new, small and informal group. The Center is developing a mailing list and an e-mail list for keeping interested individuals informed of scheduled events. We would be happy to add you to our list and welcome whatever participation or support you might be willing to lend. Experience not required!
