Lands of Dragaera

This was a Role-Playing group based on the world described in Steven Brust's Dragaeran novels. Here you could have written as a character of your own creation and "play" set in the world of Dragaera. You would tell your story and adventures through your own writing and interactions with the other members.

What Role-Playing is, and how to do it here are in the Information section, as well as info used in character creation; and other miscellanous info added every once and a while.

If you already know why you're here and what to do, feel free to Join and get started. That is, other than the fact that we stopped playing. But don't let that stop you.

Other Steven Brust/Dragaera related pages:

The Dream Café: Steven Brust's own page. Great information regarding him and his own opinions regarding the Dragaeran novels and more.

Cracks and Shards: An unbeatable set of information and speculation on the Dragaeran novels. Fantastic for information on Houses and the whole world, as well and clearing up some confusion.

Alexx Kay's Page: Most importantly, Kay has put together a Dragaera timeline starting from as far back as the colonization of Dragaera. He also has speculations and other information, all heavy in book-by-book research, including the latest in Issola.

Phoenix's Brust Page: Great links and information on character appearances like Devera and Mario.

coming soon—
The Sun the Moon and the Stars: A page reflecting on what I consider to be the greatest of Brust's books, and my favorite book of all time. I was planning on making this page once, but my fellow critic and reader bailed out on me.

NEWS

—September 12, 2002 and beyond ...

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow--
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand--
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep--while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
