Work Experience

May 2000 to 2004:
(Wireless Company- Name available upon request). Unix System Administrator/Analyst
National IT Infrastructure. Member of Sun Support Team. 7x24 On call for hundreds of mission-critical UNIX servers, and act as the Primary SA on over 70 advanced systems. Successfully built, optimized, and maintained a new national intranet server cluster (Cisco load-balanced). Successfully built, deployed, and supported a million dollar intranet search server cluster, and a load-balanced cluster of Unix servers that enhances the companys methods of virus protection. Performed several firmware upgrades on 1280s and 6800s. My projects were highly reliable and effective, while well below budget. Developed automation tools to ease administrative support, and built custom software packages. Responsibilities also included technically interviewing job candidates.
I was a TMP Worldwide Contractor and became an employee in August, 2000.
August 1999 to May 2000:
BOEING. Unix System Administrator
(Consultant through Kelly Technical Services.)
Helped manage the World's largest private image storage and retrieval systems.
Supported various production systems while providing application and network support
to internal and external (Airlines) users world wide. Supported 900+ networked
Sun servers, workstations, PCs, Xterminals, and printers. Responsibilities
included installing devices to networked systems, backups and restores, phone
support, data maintenance, resolved trouble tickets daily, reset passwords,
and modified user accounts. I built a complex Web-based Daily Shift Logging
& Report system for our group using PERL and HTML. Installed
and configured Apache & Netscape Enterprise Web Servers.
March 1998 to July 1999
Microsoft WebTV Networks. Unix System Administrator
Nat'l. Data Center: Responsible for daily WebTV operations in a network of 300+
ULTRA stations and PCs.
In addition to System Administration duties, I assisted with rolling and pulling advertising content when needed.
I resolved upper-level subscriber
usage issues by log tracing abusive events for Legal Dept. and
Law Enforcement. Managed email/spam for the world of 794,000+ subscribers.
Managed pop and router performance locally, and for our nationally affiliated ISPs. Escalated unresolved issues to engineers, developers, and DBAs when necessary.
Authored on-line documentation and personal web pages using HTML.
