Foreword: The following tracks Drizzt's life from the time he was born to his Sojourn to the surface of Toril. I have tried to make it as accurate as possible and I hope you will enjoy it. It is a bit long (lol) but it contains very accurate information about Drizzt's first period of life. Once again, enjoy.

The post surface history...

Homeland:

Drizzt Do'Urden was born on the night that House D'aermon N'achezbaernon, Tenth House of Menzoberranzan, eliminated House DeVir, Ninth House of Menzoberranzan. Drizzt was to be sacrificed to the Drow's evil goddess Lolth, the Spider Queen. Dinin, the secondboy of House Do'Urden changed this, however. After the initial assault on House DeVir, Dinin drove a dagger through the elderboy of House Do'Urden, Nalfein, making Dinin the elderboy and Drizzt the secondboy. Lolth was satisfied with the death of Nalfein, therefore allowing Drizzt to live. Another oddity about Drizzt was the color of his eyes. His eyes were a deep shade of purple, which was rare among the drow (maybe that showed that Drizzt was different from his kin?).

Drizzt was brought up by Vierna, his sister and an aspiring High Priestess. For 5 years (this 5 years is 16 years in human standards) Vierna taught Drizzt how to be a drow, and also taught him his place in society by reminding him that he was inferior (in the drow society, the males are inferior to the females. This is probably because Lolth, their goddess, is female). In those 5 years, young Drizzt learned how to line objects with faerie fire and also how to levitate (Drow nobles have an innate levitational ability. Most nobles can only levitate once a day, but Do'Urden nobles carried a symbol of their House that was embued with a enchantment that allowed them to levitate as much as they liked), and he also learned the drow hand code, a silent way of communicating with other drow quickly.

Drizzt first met his father, Zaknafein, shortly after his tenure as a page prince had ended and he had become the secondboy. After proving that Drizzt belonged in Melee-Magthere, Zak trained Drizzt for the school. Drizzt's choice weapons were twin scimitars. Drizzt entered Melee-Magthere after completing his training with Zak and ranked best in his class year after year. Upon graduating from Melee-Magthere, he was sent to Sorcere to hone his innate magical abilities (faerie fire, levitation, globes of darkness). While here, he met Masoj Hun'ett of House Hun'ett, whose Matron Mother sat on the ruling council. Masoj had killed the Faceless One years before on the same night that DeVir fell. Alton DeVir witnessed the murder and also heard of his house's elimination. To wait for revenge, he was forced to take the identity of the Faceless One and disfigure his face by pouring acid on it (hence the name "Faceless One"). Masoj also was the possessor of a magical item that could summon forth a creature from the Abyss, whose name was Guenhwyvar (Guenhwyvar was to later become Drizzt's only companion after his exile from Menzoberranzan). After leaving Sorcere, Drizzt was assigned the job of patrol leader and patroled the tunnels around Menzoberranzan daily. Unexpectedly, a raid on the surface was planned.

Drizzt, having strong moral values, was disgusted by the killing and he saved a young elven child from death. This act angered Lolth and House Do'Urden fell into disfavor. This act practically sealed House Do'Urden's downfall. A few weeks later, Drizzt was on a daily patrol when they came upon a mining party from the Sverfnebli city of Blingdenstone. Drizzt defeated an elemental and rushed to his Drow companions. They had captured a number of the gnomes and had killed all but one, a gnome named Belwar (Most Honored Burrow Warden, as he was later called). Drizzt, not wanting his cruel patrol members to slaughter this one like they did the others, suggested that they cut off the gnomes hands and send him back as a sign saying "don't mess with the Drow". The ploy worked and the gnome's hands were cut off. Drizzt didn't like this either, but at least the gnome lived. Around the time of this encounter, Matron Malice, Matron Mother of House Do'Urden, discovered that she had fallen from the favor of Lolth. Matron Malice and her daughters, Vierna, Maya, and Briza, found out about the child, but Drizzt was away and they could not sacrifice him immediately. They slyly told Zaknafein about Drizzt's deed, and Zak, not wanting his son to die, pleaded that he would take Drizzt's place and be sacrificed. When Drizzt came back and found out about this, he fled. Lolth, however, was not satisfied with Zaknafein's death.

Exile:

Dinin and Briza were sent out to find and capture Drizzt so he could be sacrificed. Years went by with Drizzt living in the underdark and Dinin and Briza searching for him.

Finally, unable to take the lonelieness of living in the underdark, he turned himself in to the Svirfnebli and was taken into the city of Blingdenstone. Here he met Belwar again and they became good friends. The drow had an informant, however. The city councilor had a contact in Menzoberranzan that went by the name of Jarlaxle, a mercernary leader whose mercernary group was called Bregan D'aerthe. The councilor unwittingly let on that Drizzt was staying in Blingdenstone and Jarlaxle, seizing his opportunity to make the Svirfnebli get rid of Drizzt, therefore making it easier to catch him, told the councilor that a House in Menzoberranzan was looking for Drizzt and would eliminate anyone who was in their way. The king of the Svirfnebli, not wanting to instill the wrath of the Drow, kicked Drizzt out of Blingdenstone. Belwar, who resented the king's decision, went with Drizzt. At this time in Menzoberranzan, Matron Malice, in a desperate attempt to capture Drizzt, asked Lolth for Zin-Carla, or reanimation of a corpse complete with the skills that the corpse had in life. Lolth granted this request and Malice chose to reanimate Zaknafein's corpse, both for his skill with weapons and knowing Drizzt had a weakness for his father. About the same time that Drizzt was kicked out of Blingdenstone, Malice sent Zak's reanimated corpse out to search for Drizzt. Drizzt and Belwar encountered evidence of Zak and shortly after this, encountered Zak for the first time. Drizzt was confused but then realized that Zak was not alive in spirit and that Matron Malice was using Zak's body. Drizzt and Belwar ran from Zak the first time.

After thier encounter with Zak, they found a Hook Horror that claimed to be a pech. Earlier Drizzt and Belwar met a human wizard that attacked them and ran away. The Hook Horror told them that his family had been killed by the wizard and he had a polymorph spell cast on him, turning him into a Hook Horror. They came upon the wizard again, but alas, Clacker (Clacker was the name that Drizzt and Belwar had given the pech) killed the wizard in anger because the wizard had insulted him and his family. Clacker, having no other friends besides Drizzt and Belwar, joined up with them. After a short while, they were captured by illithids, or Mind Flayers, and made into slaves. They escaped a short time later, only to meet up with Zak again. Zak's spirit managed to gain control of the body and tell Drizzt what was happening. Zak then destroyed the body so it couldn't be used by Matron Malice.

Drizzt made his decision to go to the surface after this incident with Zak. He went back to Blingdenstone with Belwar and said goodbye to him, then made his way to the surface, where he would meet many new people and make new friendships.

Here begins Sojourn. However, this concludes the bio. Let others find out what happens to Drizzt on the surface on thier own.
