Oil Paintings of Maui, HI

This page is dedicated to the paintings I did of my trip to Maui, Hawaii. The trip was a lonely one, but I got a lot of great photos of the landscapes and ocean. I recaptured those moments on canvas with my techniques in impressionism. I hope you enjoy them.

Kihei Beach, Maui

I caught this sunset minutes before it set. It's hard to believe how fast the sun sets there! You'd have to see it with your own eyes. Kihei Beach is on the southwest side of the island. The one thing really cool about the islands is that you can travel from one side to other in a matter of hours or less. So getting sweet pictures everyday was convenient.

Iao Valley, Maui

There is a story to this one. I decided to go to a museum here in Fort Wayne before my Maui trip in December. While I was there viewing work by O'Keefe, I saw that she did a piece of the Iao Valley in Maui. I thought, "what are the chances?" So, determined, I decided to find that particular point where she captured the image. I did indeed find it (not too hard), but here is my interpretation of it. It was a very impressive valley, very overgrown and green. I want to add that there was a current drought while I was there. So a waterfall wasn't active... sorry.

10,000ft Above, Maui

I took this picture while I was in the plane before landing. It was such a sight up there. The sun was setting through the clouds and we were in it. Sometimes you couldn't see anything but clouds, but when we broke through them it was nothing but awe! This was the image I caught. The actual painting is on its way in the studio. I hope to complete it before the year is out.
