Rules for the SWC ezboard Master/Padawan game

1. The object of the game is to introduce new members to the delights of the SWC community, as represented by the message boards. It's a lot of fun, and a great way of making like-minded friends. However, it is NOT compulsory. Anyone can post on these boards, whether or not they've taken part in this game.

2. As of 9th June, 2001 no one can claim automatic Master-hood. If you want to be a Knight or Master, you must go through 'training'.

3. A Padawan becomes a Knight when he/she goes through training/trials with a Master, then becomes a Master by training his/her own Padawan.

4. It is up to a Padawan who she/he chooses for a Master. Anyone can post up a thread announcing their status and requesting a Master/Padawan, but the Padawan makes the decision. Please limit replies in these threads to interested parties - no "don't pick her, pick him" -type replies.

5. Knights can only take on one Padawan. Masters can take on as many as they think they can handle, but if there are a lot of Knights/Masters looking for Padawans, it would be appreciated if they, too, limit themselves to one.

6. Cross-training is allowed, but is NOT compulsory. SWC has two message-boards - here and at Nightly.net. If the Knight/Master and Padawan are both agreeable, tasks may take place on either board, and the resulting Knighthood will be recognized here. At present, these rules apply only to the Ezboard - it is up to the Nightly members whether or not such cross-training is recognized there.

7. Training is entirely up to the Knight/Master. The norm is approximately 5 tasks, followed by a trial - if all are successfully completed, an announcement of the Padawan's Knighting Ceremony is usually posted.

8. The actual tasks are also the exclusive decision of the Knight/Master, although it is recommended that they take into account the interests/personality of the Padawan, and the fact that they're supposed to be learning more about the boards. Tasks can take place on this board or by email - it's up to the participants.
