• The Nature Of Angels

    They are spirit beings.

    • Who maketh his angels spirits: his ministers a flaming fire? (psalm 104:4)
    • And of the angels he saith, who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers flames
    • of fire.. Are they not all ministering spirits. sent forth to minister for them who
    • shall be heirs of salvation. (Hebrews 1:7,14)
    They can eat food
    • ( must have been angel food)
    • When the three angels came to Abraham (Gen18:8)
    • And he took butter and milk, and the calf, and set it before them, and they did eat.
    • When the two angels came to Lot in Sodom: Genesis (19:1-3)
    • He Abraham made them a feast and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

    They are inivisible

    • While on occasion they do manifest themselves, they normally remain invisible.
    • This is so that humans don't worship them.
    • John when seeing the angel , And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he (angel) said unto
    • me do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethern who have the testimony of Jesus.
    • Worship God. (Rev 19:10, Rev 22:9)

    They are innumerable.

    • God of course knows their number , but they are presented as uncountable..
    • There may be as many angels as there are stars in the heavens , as angels are associated
    • with the stars.
    • When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy...(Job38:7)
    • Thinkest thou that I cannot pray to my Father , and he shall presently give me more than twelve
    • legions of angels (Mathw 26:53)
    • But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly
    • Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels.(Hebrew 12:12)
    • And I beheld and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne, and the
    • number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands. (Rev5:11)
    •
    • They possess personalities of their own.
    • Angels have their own seperate and individual personalities.
    • They have the three features that are required to have personality.
    •
    • Intelligence:
    • Gabriel when he visits Daniel. And he talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come
    • forth to give thee skill and understanding. (Danl 9:21-22)
    • Now I am come to make thee understand what will befall thy people in the latter days:
    • for yet the vision is for many days. (Danl10-14)
    • Free will:
    • The devil chose to go against God by exhalting himself. He wanted to be greater than
    • God who created him the most beautiful angel , the morning star....
    • How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to
    • the ground, which did weaken the nations. For thou hast said in thy heart, I will ascend into
    • heaven, I will exhalt my throne above the stars of God. I will be like the most High. (Isiah 14:12-15)
    • Emotion:
    • The display joy , all the sons of God shouted for joy (Job 38:7)
    • and desire. (1 Peter 1:12) which things the angels desire to look into.
    •
    •
    • They are Superior to man
    • What is man that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
    • For thou has made him a little lower than the angels (Psalm 8:4,5)
    •
    • They are stronger than man
    • Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength (Psalm 103:20)
    • And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
    • heaven with his mighty angels. (11Thess 1:7)

    • (men) before the Lord. (11Peter 2:11)
    •
    • They are smarter than man
    • Angel Gabriel speaking to Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
    • (Daniel 9:21-22)
    • They are faster than man, and they can fly.
    • And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven (Revelation 14:6)
    • They are superior in that:
    • They are unhindered by a fallen nature.
    • They are not limited by the laws of gravity and time.
    •
    • They are inferior to God
    •
    • They are not omnipresent.
    • Present everywhere at once . Gabriel was sent from heaven to help Daniel.
