The late Count Juliusz Nowina Sokolnicki, 8th Grand Master of the Order declared his cousin, Jan Zbigniew Count Potocki to be the 9th Grand Master with immediate effect.

The medal is awarded to members of OStS, members of other organizations, private persons or members of the church, who through their particular activities have contributed to the protection of the Polishness and of the rise of OStS in Poland and in the whole world as well as to the praise of the good reputation of Poland according to the principle Milito pro OSS Polonia which translated meant “I fight for the Order of St. Stanislaus and for Poland”. That motto is depicted on the obverse side of the medal. On the front, it has OSS, Semper Fidelis or “Always Faithful”
The Grand Master stated that the inventor and founder of the Grande Cross of Merit with Crowns was Dr. med Stanislaw Stawowiak, a Knight of the Grand Cross of t he Order. Chevalier Dr. Stawowiak serves as the Chair of the Council that oversees the awards of the medal. It is to be awarded once a year at a conference of the Grand Priorate of Poland. The funeral will take place on Wednesday 29.04.2009 at 1400 hrs. at the Polish Army Church of St.Andrew Bobola in London.
Cremation will take place same day at the Mortlake Crematorium.

Masquerade Ball 2009
In Moscow, there is no invitation more glamorous than that to the annual
IWC Embassies of the World Dinner and Ball.
And we invite you to join us. To join us in a celebration of international friendships,
a celebration of the charity work done right here in our communities,
and a celebration of mystery, glamour and fun!
This tradition of celebrating our international community, while raising money for charities in Russia, is already in its 13th year.
What started as the “IWC Embassies of the World Dinner and Dance” has grown into the most prestigious social event
on the international calendar in Moscow.
This year’s ball, with a masquerade theme, is sure to provide mystery and intrigue!
The venue for the ball in the beautiful, historic Tsereteli Museum.
As has become the tradition, guests are first entertained with cocktails and an elegant dinner at one of the many host embassies.
Later in the evening, dancing and the entertainment begin… continuing into the wee hours.
The ball would not be possible without the participation of the diplomatic community, the sponsorship of
local businesses and the work of numerous IWC volunteers.
This huge event is the IWC’s single biggest fundraising endeavor, with all proceeds going to support IWC charities.
