New Zealand Grand Priory Investiture
On a sunny afternoon of May the 8th, the New Zealand Grand Priory held it’s first Investiture for 2004. This was held in a very beautiful church of St. Mary of the Angels in our capital City, Wellington.
Four new Postulants were admitted for New Zealand and one for Australia. The Deputy Mayor of Wellington was in attendance, representing the City and the Mayor. The presiding Priest was The Very Reverend Monsignor Charles Cooper, a most delightful and dignified Priest, he was helped by our own very able Chaplin, Dame Sister Martha Szymanska.
At this investiture, the very first Page for the New Zealand Grand Priory was created to serve his fellow Knights and Dames. This was Count Isaac Subritzky-Kusza, Welcome to the family Isaac.
We also had several Knights and Dames receiving their Faithful Service Medals.
Two Knights were upgraded as well.
At the conclusion of the Investiture was the handing over of the Grand Priorship from Chevalier Colonel Martin Devlin to Chevalier Philip Sherry, who now becomes our new NZ Grand Prior. I am sure we all wish Chevalier Philip Sherry well and will give him our full support in the tasks ahead.
In the evening a Formal Black Tie Cocktail Function was held at the Wellesley Club and was well attended by all the members.
At this function all the 25th Anniversary Medals were handed out. Also the Charitable Trust held a meeting, and can report that all is well, with funds continuing to grow and funds handed out to charitable causes being made throughout the year.
