Season One
Pilot
It's 1989 and all is quiet in the town of Smallville. That is, until a sudden and destructive meteorite storm hits, changing the lives of many of Smallville's residents forever. Caught up in the chaos are a young Lex Luthor, who loses his hair as a result of being caught in the blast, and three-year-old Lana Lang, whose parents are killed in the incident. Meanwhile, childless couple Martha and Jonathan Kent are first-hand witnesses when something crashes to Earth in the middle of the meteorite storm. And then, from the wreckage, a little boy emerges. Twelve years later and we meet that little boy as a young man - Clark Kent. Clark has been adopted by the Kents, but doesn't yet know about his spectacular introduction to Earth. However, Clark does know that he is different from other kids his age - and has the super-human abilities to prove it. But how will the young Superman react when he realises the truth about his origins? And can he keep his secret hidden from friends Chloe and Pete, Lana Lang - the girl he worships from afar - and his enigmatic new friend Lex Luthor?

Metamorphosis
While Clark and Whitney squabble over Lana, it goes unnoticed that she has another admirer, classmate Greg, waiting in the wings. Greg, much to his mother's annoyance, likes collecting insects. Unfortunately for Greg, some of his samples have been affected by the fallout from the meteorite storm. And, after being bitten by the insects, Greg starts to go through some unusual changes. However, Lana is still all he thinks about and he determines to make her his - no matter what it takes to get his rivals, Clark and Whitney, out of the way....

Hothead
While Lex battles with his father to gain control of the Smallville branch of LuthorCorp, Clark defies his father and joins the school football team - only to be disappointed when he discovers that Lana has quit cheerleading. However, Clark has bigger problems on his hands in the form of his new coach, Walt Arnold. Coach Arnold is determined to lead the team to his 200th victory. However, half his team are suspended after being caught cheating on a test. And when Chloe investigates the coach's part in the cheating scandal, she unwittingly puts herself in danger from his fiery temper....

X-Ray
Clark is concerned when he suddenly develops a new power - x-ray vision - although he soon finds that it does have its advantages. But while Clark tries to learn to control this new ability, he has to contend with a number of strange goings-on in Smallville - including a bank robbery apparently carried out by Lex Luthor. Which is where Clark's new power comes in quite useful. Meanwhile, Lana, with the help of Chloe, attempts to find out more about her mother. But she is distracted from her efforts by idolising school friend Tina, who seems to have a bad case of the single white females....

Cool
There's romance in the air in Smallville as Chloe finds herself being pursued by school football player, Sean Kelvin, and Clark - thanks to some match-making by Lex - finally scores a date with Lana (even if they are only going out as friends). However, Clark's perfect evening with Lana is rudely interrupted when it is revealed that Sean is hiding a secret. Suffering from permanent hypothermia after a fall into a kryptonite-laced lake, Sean is staving off the cold by feeding off other people's body heat. And Chloe is next on his list of donors....

Hourglass
When Clark, spurred on by Lana's new choice of extra-curricular activity, volunteers himself for community service at a retirement home, he befriends an old blind woman named Cassandra who, it is said, can predict the future. Unfortunately, she predicts that someone close to Clark will soon die. Meanwhile, the old man in Lana's care is not who he appears to be, and when people connected to a murder that took place sixty years ago start turning up dead, Clark begins to realise that Cassandra speaks the truth. And there may be no way for him to change his destiny....

Craving
Lana's birthday is fast approaching and her aunt is organising a big celebration bash at Lex's mansion. And with Whitney out of town, Clark seizes his chance to step in as Lana's escort. Meanwhile, Pete has also snagged a date for the party - previously-overweight classmate Jodie, who has lost a lot of weight in an incredibly short space of time. The secret of Jodie's amazing weight-loss is Kryptonite-affected vegetables. But the diet causes some drastic side-effects, and Pete soon finds himself in danger from Jodie's all-encompassing hunger....

Jitters
With his parents in Metropolis celebrating their anniversary, Clark decides to throw a party. But, as ever, things don't go according to plan. An unexpected guest turns up in the form of an old family friend, Earl, who is now suffering from terrible seizures and is wanted for murder. Earl believes that LuthorCorp are behind what's happening to him and that there may be a cure for his 'jitters' on level three of the Smallville plant. While Lionel Luthor denies the existence of level three, Earl resorts to desperate measures to prove his sanity - which could have deadly consequences for both Clark and Lex....

Rogue
In Metropolis to attend a museum gala thrown by Lex, Clark runs into trouble after stopping a runaway bus when his good deed is witnessed by a corrupt cop. Soon, Clark and his parents find themselves being blackmailed, as the cop threatens to reveal all about Clark's special powers. At first, Clark co-operates, but when he finds his parents under threat, he struggles to keep his anger under control. Meanwhile, Lex is intrigued as to why the cop, who he has had previous dealings with, is interested in Clark Kent, and starts to delve into the matter further....

Shimmer
When Whitney and Lana are pulled further apart by Whitney's refusal to communicate with his girlfriend, Clark finds himself getting even closer to the girl of his dreams. But when Clark finds out the truth about what's troubling Whitney, he finds it difficult to take advantage of the situation. Clark turns to Lex for advice, but Lex has problems of his own. Strange things have been going on at the Luthor mansion, apparently caused by an invisible force determined to scare Victoria out of the house. However, once it succeeds in doing so, it turns its attentions towards Lex.....

Hug
When Bob Rickman, a businessman with a reputation for always getting what he wants, returns to his home town of Smallville, he informs Lex of his plans to buy the Kent farm and build a fertiliser plant on the land. Lex warns Clark of Rickman's intentions, but Clark is certain that, however persuasive Rickman might be, he won't be able to wrestle ownership of the farm away from his parents. That is, until Jonathan signs the farm over to Rickman. Clark realises that Rickman is not all he appears to be and, when people start acting very out-of-character, with no recollection of why they are doing so, he comes to the conclusion that Rickman's powers of persuasion aren't exactly self-taught.....

Leech
Clark’s wish to be normal finally comes true after he saves classmate Eric Summers’ life during an electrical storm. Both Clark and Eric are struck by lightning. Soon after, Clark realises that his super powers have deserted him. Meanwhile, Eric suddenly gains amazing strength and speed. And while Clark tries to come to terms with the loss of the powers he had grown accustomed to, Eric is finding fame through performing super-human feats. But how long will it be before Eric cracks under the pressure of his new-found gifts?

Kinetic
While Clark and Chloe are at the Luthor mansion, interviewing Lex, three masked thieves rob Lex’s vault. Chloe is injured as the thieves make their escape, but nobody can work out how they got into the vault in the first place. While Clark vows to track down the thieves because of what they did to Chloe, Lex has similar plans, as they have stolen an important disk from him. But matters are further complicated when Whitney starts spending time with the thieves - who all share tattoos with a familiar green glow - and is quickly initiated into the gang....

Zero
The past comes back to haunt Lex, as a man who he saw killed following an incident in a nightclub starts turning up all over Smallville. Holding Lex responsible for his death, his apparently resurrected old friend starts making his presence felt in Lex’s life. However, this also has negative repercussions for both Lana and Clark - causing Clark to wonder how much he really knows about Lex Luthor. Meanwhile, Chloe starts to wonder the same thing about Clark, as a school project causes her to investigate his adoption....

Nicodemus
After rescuing an employee of LuthorCorp from a car crash, Jonathan Kent starts acting very strangely. But when his erratic behaviour turns violent, Clark is forced to step in - only for his father to collapse in front of him. Meanwhile, Lana starts exhibiting the same symptoms as Clark's dad - losing all her inhibitions and fear and telling people exactly what she thinks of them. But when the original car crash victim slips into a coma and dies - apparently suffering from the same thing as Jonathan and Lana - Clark realises how serious things are. With a little investigating into the work of the mysterious Dr Hamilton, Chloe finds a link to a supposedly-extinct flower, the Nicodemus. But can a cure be found in time?

Stray
After Martha hits a young boy with her car, he appears to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, being able to remember only his name, Ryan. The Kents take Ryan in until his parents can be found. But Ryan knows more than he is letting on - a lot more. Ryan has the ability to read people's minds - a trait his abusive stepfather has been using to aid him in his violent robberies. And Ryan's stepfather isn't about to give up his prized asset that easily. Clark, meanwhile, has found Ryan to be a substitute brother. But with Ryan able to read minds, how long will it be before he uncovers Clark's secret?

Reaper
A dying old lady is visited in hospital by her son, Tyler, and begs him to help her end her life and the pain she is suffering from. Tyler tries to grant her wish, but is caught in the act and, after a fight ensues, he falls from a window. Tyler is pronounced dead but, to the shock of the coroner examining him, he sits up and turns him to ash with just a touch of his hand. Tyler returns to his mother's home town of Smallville, where he joins up with Martha and Clark in making food deliveries to the homes of the elderly. But seeing an old lady in pain prompts Tyler to use his new-found 'gift' - the gift of death - again. And it isn't long before Tyler finds yet another recipient for his so-called mercy-killings - Whitney's father, who has suffered another heart attack....

Drone
A school election is currently in full swing and the competition is hotting up. Then one of the candidates is suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees, which puts him out of the running. Pete decides to put Clark’s name down for the vacant spot and, although Clark isn’t keen at first, he soon starts to enjoy his campaign for class president. But when another of the election candidates turns up covered in bees, it soon becomes clear that it won’t be an easy ride for Clark. Meanwhile, Lex has an interesting encounter with a reporter from Metropolis, and Lana resorts to dirty tactics in trying to keep her business running....

Crush
A confused Clark suddenly discovers that his feelings for Chloe might run deeper than just friendship. Unfortunately, this coincides with Chloe finding herself a new boyfriend - Justin. Although Pete tells him it’s simple jealousy, Clark doesn’t trust Justin - who has just returned to Smallville after a rehabilitation period in Metropolis, following getting struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident. Previously a talented artist, Justin lost the use of his hands in the accident - and when a similar fate is suffered by the surgeon who failed to help Justin, Clark becomes suspicious. Justin tells Chloe that he gained telekinetic powers while in hospital. She thinks these are harmless - that is, until Justin puts them to use against the person he thinks responsible for his accident....

Obscura
After getting knocked unconscious by a gas explosion, Lana suddenly finds herself having hazy visions - the first of which sees Chloe being kidnapped. Chloe was meant to be out of town for an interview in Metropolis, but when her car is found abandoned, it looks like Lana's vision has come true. Lana's visions soon grow more terrifying - but they do pinpoint Chloe's location, allowing Clark to rescue her. Clark surmises that Lana must have a psychic link with Chloe's kidnapper, as she was able to see through his eyes. But can they work out who the kidnapper is before he finds Lana?

Tempest
Lex is shocked when his father announces the closure of the Smallville plant, resulting in hundreds of job loses - and vows to use every means necessary to fight him and keep the plant open. Meanwhile, Chloe’s dad losing his job means that she may have to move back to Metropolis - meaning Clark is more determined than ever to enjoy their date at the Spring Formal. Lana also has to say her goodbyes - to Whitney, who’s decided to leave town to join the Marines. And Clark faces further problems when Roger Nixon returns with evidence of his real identity - and the determination to see Clark’s story in print. But as a tornado roars into town, everything comes crashing down....
