When Phoebe Halliwell loses her job in New York, she moves back home to live with her disapproving elder sisters, Prue and Piper, in San Francisco. Phoebe hasn’t been home for long when strange things start happening in the Halliwell manor. A message delivered via a ouija board directs Phoebe to the attic, where she discovers an old book of spells and incantations called the Book of Shadows. Prue and Piper aren’t convinced but, after Phoebe reads aloud an incantation from the Book of Shadows, all three of the sisters find their lives altered significantly. Prue now has the power to move objects with her mind, Piper can freeze time, and Phoebe has premonitions of future events. However, with a serial killer on the loose, who appears to be targeting witches, it seems the sisters may have discovered their magical abilities at just the wrong time....

Prue and Piper, meanwhile, are too busy preparing for a dinner party for some of Prue’s clients to notice that Phoebe is acting strangely. But when Phoebe’s behaviour - as well as what seems to be sabotage by the Halliwell manor itself - ruins the dinner party, and Prue and Piper find themselves shut out of the house, they realise that evil is at work. Unfortunately, without the Book of Shadows and the Power of Three, they have no way of defeating the Woogyman. Can Phoebe be snapped out of her possession in time to stop evil claiming the manor?

Prue learns the warlock is only powerful when he has his sword - but to separate him from the sword, Prue will need the strength of three. And so Prue casts a spell to gain that extra strength - only to find herself gaining two doubles as a result. But with three Prues running around, things get very confusing very quickly - not least for Andy. Even with three Prues though, will the Charmed Ones be able to defeat the warlock before Phoebe’s premonition comes true?
