Foundation
Generations dot
the hill.
Marble sprouts
among the flowers
Presenting only
names and numbers
Concealing the
past below
But time has not
ended
It has merely
frozen
Neighbors remain
close
Couples still
face the world side by side
And soldiers stay
in single file
They survive as
a picture
Forever a
display of
How they learned
what we know
How they
suffered what we've cured
How they feared
that which we have befriended
They strove to
build a tower
It's pieces now
mark their graves
But these stones
Can be our
strogest foundation
If we only take
the time
To look back
