Major "My Lord" Edrington
The Major is the Earl of Edrington and so he tells Hornblower he should refer to him as "My Lord." He is a Major in the British Army, and is not one to try to mock. He'll never say yes or no when a smirk or sarcastic remark will do as well. On the battlefield he's a calm and cool leader. His awkward relationship with Horatio and Archie soon developes into a friendship when they find themselves set against the Marquis de Moncoutant.
