Verse-by-Verse Comparisons
Are you looking for
examples to give people who don't believe there is any difference between
the KJV and the New Versions? Try these:
I Timothy 3:16
KJV |
NIV |
And without controversy great is
the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto Gentiles, believed
on in the world, recieved up into glory.
|
Beyond all question, the mystery
of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated
by the Spirit, was seen by angeles, was preached among the nations, was
believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
|
Note that where the KJV says "God," the NIV says "He." By using a
pronoun in that verse, the NIV is suggesting that we should worship
anybody who is a "he" instead of God. Since people reading the Bible
don't have the comprehension skills to place the word "He" in the context
of the rest of the Bible and decide that it is referring to God, this
verse is very dangerous.
I Corinthians 2:13
KJV |
NIV |
Which things also we speak, not in
the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost
teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
|
This is what we speak, not in
words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the
Spirit,
expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
|
Here we see the NIV using the word "Spirit" in place of "Holy Ghost"!
What, are we going to start worshiping just any old spirit out there now,
instead of the one Holy Ghost? No true Bible version would ever
use the word "Spirit."
II Corinthians 5:18
KJV |
NIV |
And all things are of God, who
hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath
given to
us the ministry of reconciliation. |
All this is from God, who
reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the
ministry of reconciliation.
|
Look, look, look! The NIV takes out the name Jesus, leaving us with
only "Christ" instead of "Jesus Christ." So tell me, NIV translators,
who are your readers supposed to follow? Bill Christ? Fred Christ? Are
they just supposed to assume that it's talking about Jesus
Christ? Geeze!
I hope these examples have helped. If you need more, be sure to
buy Dr. Harvey's book or some KJV-Defending tracts, which can be found on
this web site.
