Tell Me A Story

This web page is devoted the the reintroduction, revival, and reinventing of the short story genre in modern day culture. There are few people left in the world today who truly enjoy reading a good story. Most of us would rather watch a film, or a television show, which cater more to our senses. I'm the first to admit that I love a good action flick, or a good situation comedy as well. However, there are still people left in this world who also enjoy letting their imaginations paint pictures in their minds. They have a love for reading that is equal, if not greater than, their passion for other media types.

Now, in my very humble opinion, the short story is the branch of literature that best suits the art of storytelling. Short stories can be read in one sitting, are often less "involved" than novels (To understand what I mean by involved, try reading a Steinbeck novel...shudder), and are also more easily written by the amature author. Short stories use to be one of the staples of the printing industry, before the visual medias were invented. Newspapers were filled with short stories to grasp readers' attention, instead of sensationalized articles. People could barely stand to wait for their favorite author to come out with a new story, a story about adventure, or romance, intrigue, or humor. People like Edgar Allen Poe and Jack London literally amassed small fortunes for their literary skill, and the popularity of their work.

But, alas, the popularity of the short story faded away, just like big band music, hula hoops, pet rocks, and beanie babies would as well. But, I know that there are some people who enjoy both reading and writing short stories, still to this day. If you are one of those people, I encourage you to enter my site, read to you heart's desire, and please contribute as well!
