Ok, you may be wondering, 'how the fuck does this guy come up with a basis for what song, or what book, or what movie is good?' Well, I think the way I decide is if the piece makes a statement about society or the human condition. Secondly, if it is able to do so while being artistically interesting and in an original way. Art should attempt to point out weaknesses in society and thereby try to change them. Of course, sometimes art is very personal and that is valid too; however, it is still important the the art be relavent or understandable to those who listen to/see it.
