INTERNET 'MAGIC'
TCP Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) dices up the data (email message, photo, etc..) into small units called "packets." These packets are then transmitted and reassembled at the destination. IP Internet Protocol (IP) associates an address with each packet to make sure it reaches the right destination. Routers Routers are the computers that make the data flow on the Internet. They read the IP on each packet and move it along in the right direction on the Internet until it reaches its destination. |
