At last, at last it has come. Not only does this commentary not focus on
Wendy's, but this edition of "The Ravings of a Madman" is actually positive!,
whodathunkit!!!.
In this, the third edition entitled "I'm In Love With My DVD Player" I
discuss the marvels that is this amazing new format. Remeber just a year or
two ago?, when a TV commercial would blab out those familiar words "Rent it
today on VHS!", of course you do because the odds are you did rent it today
on VHS!. But Ding Dong VHS Is Dead!!!!! all hail the awesomness that is
DVD!!!!!. For those of you who don't know DVD stands for Digital Video Disc
and has replaced to old VHS tape technology with a CD that can hold amazing
amounts of information.
The DVD benefits are fantastic, not only does a movie look and sound much
better, but you can with ease skip scenes, add subtitles, changes languages,
zoom in, and do countless other things. But those are just the scratch of the
surface, the true wickedness of a DVD lies ahead, within "The Special
Features"!!!!!. This is were DVD realy shines, ever wonder about how they
made that car go flying off a cliff and explode just at the right time after
the hero escaped sudden death? well odds are you're gonna find out because a
DVD is usually loaded with all kinds of really cool extra stuff about the
movie. DVD's almost always include the movies original theatrical trailer
and/or commercial TV spots, interviews with the cast, behind the scenes
featurettes, special effects featurettes, and my personal favorite, the
commentary track. This is where people with a passing interest in the film
can watch the film and listen to the director or cast members discuss the
film while they watch it along with you (basically think of WWF Raw and Jim
Ross!!!). Another great thing about DVD is that you can watch them as many
times as you like and they will not wear down like a VHS tape does. The sound
will always stay sharp and the visuals wil always stay crisp and colourfull.
Unfortunetly there is one drawback to DVD, that being the price. DVD's tend
to be a little bit on the expensive side and can run anywhere from 15 bucks
to 50 bucks. Other than that DVD is a great format and I suggest that
everybody check them out.
If your looking for some DVD suggestions check out Ghostbusters, Batman: The
Movie, X-Men, and Dogma: Special Edition.
Wow, I actully wrote a positive edition of "The Ravings of a Madman", I feels
so dirty!!!!. But fear not, I'll be back soon enough to complain about
something.
Untill then this has been: The Bloodsucker
