Infinity: The Fifth Trilogy

Truth
Make: Made around 3am, on the 26th of November, 2002, using my burner in
my computer (Boris).

Remake: None as yet.

Description: In this trilogy, Truth was by far the most difficult to make.
For a long time I only had one or two definites and a lot of maybes. Eventually
I got together a list that comprimised of about half the maybes and somehow I
actually managed to organise the whole CD so it had a decent order and even a
bit of story to it. Unlike the stories in most other CDs, this trilogy was very
much theme-based rather than story-based. Generating a mood was top priority.
It took me a while to get this CD together, and in the end I was in a rush to
to get it done so I could get the next two CDs done up. Because of the nature of
this compilation, it's the most likely to be remade first.

Truth was really a fun CD to make. I wanted it to mess with people's minds. I
wanted it to be very confrontational, making the listener question their motives
in everything they do. Throughout the CD, there are surpise mood changes all over
the place. The less comfortable the listener felt, the better. The listener had to
make sure they felt a little out of control, like they wanted to remember what their
original goals were to make sure they always know what they're doing. Towards the end, it
actually ends up feeling more comfortable with a much more noticable storyline and
order, and it feels like the whole CD actually had a story and an order to begin with.

I started it off like Past, as if it were about to tell a recountable story, then
went on to the most depressing songs at its peak - the truth hurts. Even while trying
to portray undeniable truth, it eventually smoothes off, and everything becomes clear.

Listing:
1. The Corrs - The Secret Life
2. Nickelback - This Is How You Remind Me

What Missed Out: When I first put the list together, I could only fill up the.
list by putting all the definites and maybes down, and I wasn't happy with the end
result and I could see that this compliation was going to need a lot of work. Some
songs like Paula Cole's I Don't Wanna Wait were scrapped because they were on
earlier compilations and didn't *quite* fit the order properly. Others like Leah Haywood's
Crazy was skipped because it related more to story than to a theme, and there was
very little relation to truth in it. I went to some pretty far depths to find new songs,
almost putting Lain's Duvet on there, when I realised it was going a little too
far in the depression end of the scale, and portrayed more of an out-of-control image
than any of the others. A few songs like DB Boulevard's Point of View, Bardot's
These Days and Semisonic's Secret Smile were even considered, despite the
fact I didn't particularly like any of them - that's how desperate I got for songs.

Favourites: Man of Colours, The Secret Life and Ask Me.

Why I Chose Them:

Love
Make: Made around 4am, on the 26th of November, 2002, using my burner in
my computer (Boris).

Remake: None as yet.

Description: This compliation was really a rollercoaster ride to create. Right from
the start, I obviously had a ton of choices of what songs to use. Therefore, I had to be
very selective on how I chose what songs stayed and what songs didn't. Someone told me once
that every song is basically about love. That's a pretty big playlist, but looking closer,
I wanted to do more than just beat around the bush. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to create
an absolute feeling, or a story, and what I ended up doing was combining those concepts.

I wanted to make sure I didn't choose any songs which often referred to someone in second
person, and while I didn't completely stick to that, the focus of everything is always on
the moment, and never on any problems. I wanted everything to look like it was perfection at
its best, stopping only to increase the feeling, or to savor the moment.

The story is very, very ideal and only realistic in the most favourable of ways that someone
could want. The story serves only to portray unending love; even at the end of the compilation,
you can expect a happy ending that joins onto the beginning, so much that I almost decided to.
put the last song first.

Listing:
1. Robyn - Show Me Love
2. Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight
3. Bardot - Love Will Find a Way

5. Susanna Hoffs - Only Love

10. Donna Lewis - I Love You
11. Amy Grant - That's What Love Is For
12. The Corrs - Runaway

18. Sophie B Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down
19. The Thompson Twins - Hold Me Now

What Missed Out: Where do I begin. Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares To You was
a definite, but due to overwhelming numbers of definites got dropped out because the song didn't
really work in the story too well, it was too similar to a few of the other songs, and the way
it sounded just didn't quite fit in to set the mood I wanted. Chynna's I Live For You was
thrown out in favour of Naked and Sacred. Among the maybe's were Bif Naked's Lucky,
Culture Club's The Dream, Jennifer Paige's Stranded (a good example of the second-person
style song I didn't want), A1's Caught In The Middle (same as Stranded), Leah
Haywood's Anytime, Haddaway's What Is Love (which gave off more of a message of 'this
isn't love'), Martina McBride's I Love You (c'mon, I didn't really want two songs with the
same name on one compilation, I chose the other one because this one felt more second-person
and confronting than Donna's version), Lisa Loeb's Stay, B'witched's To You I Belong, Tonic's
If You Could Only See, Garbage's Cup of Coffee (listen to this one carefully and see if
you can pick why I might've used it, and why I didn't use it), Blessid Union's She Likes Me For
Me
, Martika's Kitchen (it might've worked, but definitely not while it was in competition
with Love... Thy Will Be Done) and finally, Amy Grant's Good For Me (which was only
even going to be considered if Martika's Kitchen was in). Finally, I almost decided to use
DJ Sammy and Yanou's candlelight mix of Heaven instead of Bryan Adams' version, and the reason
behind that will be revealed in the future. Whew!

Favourites: Show Me Love, ummm... Pride (In The Name of Love) and A Thousand Miles. Very hard to
choose - I could easily list half the compilation as my favourites.
