The Sixth Trilogy

Tony's Compilation 13
Coming soon.

Tony's Compilation 17
Make: 26th of March, 2003, on my burner, my computer.

Remake: The only problem I have with the original burn at the moment
is that I forgot to take out the two second breaks. If I get nitpicky, it's
also that I fell into the song replacement trap with Livin' On a Prayer
- a song probably could've been replaced with It's My Life on Courage.

Description: Like its predecessor, CD#17 was meant to be simple. Unlike
CD#13 however, CD#17 has a new style which may look a little familiar at first.
Trying to keep with the CD#4 storyline but trying to introduce something new,
this compilation is the first to actually peak at a low emotional tone and elevate
toward the end. Essentially, this compilation skips the peak altogether, and still
connects perfectly. The idea was to judge storyline almost completely by the 'feel'
of the music.

At first, the CD starts off as if it were just another typical compilation. Up till
about half way, this is what you should be led to believe, if you've heard the other CDs.
Then it breaks into slower stuff almost straight away, and stays there up till almost
the end. While this sounds like the same deal as any other CD, you wouldn't be able to
see the similiarity if you were listening to it, unless you were looking hard.

I posted an
entry in my journal asking people about improvements to my compilations,
to which I got a few comments as to how to spice things up. Some of those comments
helped to change what CD#17 became. As a result, it strays from the poppier songs a
little while still trying to be as broad as possible to hold the majority's tastes.

Listing:
1. Christine Anu - Party
2. Amber - Sexual [original radio]
3. Appleton - Fantasy
4. A1 - Caught In The Middle
5. Tatu - All The Things She Said
6. Tim Deluxe - It Just Won't Do
7. Counting Crows feat Vanessa Carlton - Big Yellow Taxi
8. Avril Lavigne - I'm With You
9. The Corrs - Don't Say You Love Me
10. Jennifer Paige - Stranded
11. Robbie Williams - Feel

13. Bon Jovi - Livin' On a Prayer
14. The Julianna Theory - Don't Push Love Away

16. The Wannadies - You And Me Song
17. Tina Arena - Sorrento Moon (I Remember)
18. Our Lady Peace - Somewhere Out There
19. Bodeans - Closer To Free

What Missed Out: Duran Duran's Ordinary World missed out only because
a lack of space on the CD - taken out at the last minute. The only problem I had with
it was that the song lasted for six minutes. I decided Shakira's Objection was
a song I'd get sick of really quickly, as with Kylie's Come Into My World. Chynna
Phillip's I Live For You just didn't fit in with the rest. Belinda Carlisle's
Summer Rain and Deborah Harry's I Want That Man had too much of an 80s or
90s drawl to them, and didn't fit in either. Scatman's Scatman was nice and dancy,
but again, just didn't fit the order.

Favourites: I'm With You, Stranded and Livin' On a Prayer.

Why I Chose Them:
Coming soon.

Tony's Compilation 18
Make: Late 2003, on my burner, my computer (Boris).

Remake: None yet, and it's unlikely I'll need to.

Description: As with most compilations that last in the trilogy, CD#18 brings
something new that makes it worthy of an ending to a trilogy. While still keeping with
the styles of CD#13 and CD#17, CD#18 was savoured for a while to ensure its longevity.
Without sacrificing storyline, it adds a new flavour that keeps you wanting more.

More here later.
